cheap hostel or hotel in venice
i am going to be in Venice for two nights and am trying to find a cheap place to stay. since i will only be there a short time, should i be looking in the city center? The cheaper things are not on the center island...
suggestions?

My favourite "cheapie" in Venice is the Hotel Spagna which is 100-200 meters from Santa Lucia Station. Turn left when you come out of the station and walk straight down the street. Clean, air conditioned rooms in good condition even though they are very small, but then what rooms in Venice aren't? Staff very helpful, breakfast is included and the hotel is right in the middle of shops, cafes, markets etc. Also only one minute from the vaporetto terminal. Book through www.bookings.com.

Try the Ca' del Dose. Affordable, clean, family run B&B. Charming. Centrally located.

thanks for the suggestions! I just booked something at Locanda Silva in the heart of Venice...Anyone stayed there? it was only 60 euro a night for a single room! i booked through venere.com.
