    One of quite a few hotels overlooking the laguna. I had an excellent 3 nights here in a good room. There's a breakfast buffet but you pay extra for things like scrambled or boiled eggs and other cooked breakfast dishes. I had the most expensive pot of tea and biscuit ever, at room service. But definitely worth it (a load of good biscuits and very nice tea when I suddenly fell ill for a few hours). In the afternoon there's cakes and other goodies on display (to be eaten!) in the rather delightful lounge.

    Judging by the 4 course lunch that I had here, the hotel restaurant 'Met' is absolutely excellent. ^ ^ ^ Don't forget: 4 more photo's to see in this tip!

  • The Metropole Hotel far exceeded our expectations. The staff were welcoming, friendly discreet and helpful. Our room which we had booked as a room with lagoon view turned out to be a suite with it's own roof top terrace with magnificant views of the lagoon and the Venice rooftops and skyline. The food was of a very high standard with a huge choice at breakfast. The hotels location is ideal for all of Venice's attractions being only a leisurely 5 minutes from St. Mark's Square.We were sorry to leave but if we are lucky enough to go back to Venice we know where we will be staying

  • Our stay was wonderful, and we enjoyed the excellent service and atmosphere at this hotel. The hotel is beautiful, and the decor is very rich; packed full of beautiful antiques and paintings. I don't know how old the building was exactly, but it was stunning. Our room was very beautiful and had very tall cielings. The location was especially convenient. This has been the only hotel in Venice I have stayed at, so I can't really compare it to others here (you might be able to get a better value somewhere else), but this was certainly better than our experience at a hotel in Florence, and fulfilled our expectations: very satisfied.

    The hotel simply has everything you would expect of Venice from the decor to the location (blocks away from St. Mark's Plaza), and its own entrance by gondola!
