Superb position but!

We visited this hotel for 5 nights in September. Paid €380 plus taxes for a side room. Hotel is very conveniently situated and very well presented however, reception staff are stuffy and unfriendly, breakfast is disappointing for this level of hotel with the worst fresh fruit salad I have ever seen! The hotel bar although ideally situated with views of the grand canal is very expensive and has no atmoshphere (or customers). Could have been so much better with a bit more effort from the front of house and kitchen staff. Shame!
Beautiful Hotel!

Expensive Hotel (over $300 a night) but well worth it! Stayed here for two nights the first week of September. Convenient location: Get off Vaporetto at San Marco stop and transfer right there to the #1 to Sant. Angelo stop which is not even 20 feet from hotel. Had fourth floor room which was beautiful, couldn't get over the marbled bathroom and jacuzzi tub! Bed was turned down each night with a mint on the pillow. Staff very helpful and professional. My friend and I got lost (who doesn't in Venice?) one night and went into a bar to get directions back to the hotel. The owner of the bar knew the bartender at the Sant. Angelo and phoned ahead to him for him to keep an eye out for two of his guests that were lost. Once we got to the hotel, the bartender said "I was looking for you two!" For two women traveling alone it was nice to know that someone was looking out for us. Breakfast was great although we wish we had known that room service was free, didn't find out until we checked out. Would definitely recommend this hotel, especially for honeymooning couples.
Luxury at its best

We stayed at the Palazzo Sant'Angelo for 2 nights. We arrived late by water taxi and were greated by a very friendly desk clerk.. shown to our beautiful room and informed about the breakfast.. the room was beautiful, the baths hydro bath was put to use immediately... that alone would have made the stay exceptional. Breakfast in the beautiful breakfast room was the best we had in Italy, always served by helpful staff who called us by name... I highly recommend this hotel and would gladly stay there again
Merits the stars and the price!

We really liked this hotel. Our room was large and beautiful and the bathroom was wonderful - loved the jacuzzi tub! The service was especially good - friendly and helpful, and most spoke excellent English. The breakfast was large and tasty and included some hot items.
The only negatives I could report were slightly uncomfortable beds and a problem with temperature control - heat was always on too high.
Besides that it was wonderful - well worth the money, in our opinion.
The hotel quite corresponds to an atmosphere of Venice.

The hotel quite corresponds to an atmosphere of Venice. A magnificent view from a window, especially early in the morning The personnel unostentatious and precautionary what should be in five-stars hotel.
Wonderful, gorgeous!

First of all, Venice is amazing. The city does, however, smell like a sewer (depending upon which way the wind blows over the water). This hotel is perfect in every way. We had a Jr. Suite, facing the Grand Canal. It was amazing. The guy at the front desk recommended a restaurant ("The Merchant" in italian - it's name was something like "Il Merchanti"). It had the best risotto with white truffles, and simply amazing food. The room was spacious, views spectacular. Worth the price (we actually felt this level of service and decor was worth more than we spent!).
Super Hotel in Venice

Based on TripAdvisor reviews, we booked this hotel for a four-day stay in early December, getting an excellent rate from the hotel's website. Our room, 120, faced onto the Grand Canal and was spacious and beautifully decorated in red and gold color scheme with 19th century style furnishings. Separate closet/dressing room was handy and bathroom was huge...bigger than most hotel rooms! The staff was gracious, spoke excellent English and very helpful for first-time visitors like ourselves. Lamberto patiently answered all our questions, whether about Venetian architecture, the impending high tide or Italian history and politics. A sumptuous breakfast was included in our room rate. Although we were kicking ourselves during the first 3 sunny days of our visit for all the space taken up in our luggage by rubber boots, when the high tide arrived on the morning of the 4th day they made all the difference since water on the sidewalk in front of the hotel was about 8" deep. We would gladly go back to this wonderful hotel and we recommend it highly.
Great place

I just got back from Venice and stayed at the Palazo Sant Angelo. The Junior suite was huge by European standards and even very big by US standards. It had an entire sitting area, brand new bathroom with jacuzzi tub and king bed. It was very resaonable.
It is located right between the Rialto and San Marco square. The location is great and it has it's own Valpretto stop on the Grand Canal! Just get on the Valpretto (water bus) for 1/4 the cost of a private water taxi. It is a great little hotel. 14 rooms total and the desk is very helpful. Again, it is the easiest place to find with it's own stop!
Beautiful Hotel & Great Service

We stayed at this hotel during the carnival in February 2006. The staff are very helpful and friendly and the room was huge! We were upgraded to a room with a view overlooking the grand canal, which was fantastic.
Unfortunately there was some building work going on in the hotel while we were there so the hallways had a strong smell of glue & it was very noisy, but given that the only time we really heard this was when we came back to the hotel to drop off out shopping at lunchtime, it really didn't matter at all. It certainly didn't spoil our stay. Because of the inconvenience, there was no charge for room service - I doubt you'd get that at a UK hotel.
The hotel was lovely and we had a very relaxing break, but Venice itself is a total rip off - it's just a big tourist trap and the food is very average, but very expensive. We did find a couple of excellent restaurants, but both meals cost a fortune, so if anyone is planning to visit Venice, don't be thinking you'll be eating on a budget....
