Definitely a great place to stay in Venice. We had a super first floor room for three, with our granddaughter on a comfortable couch and ourselves in a generous double bed. Very spacious room. Large and well-equipped bathroom with shower stall. Appointments were very nice period pieces and décor was tasteful. Staff were friendly and helpful, but their English was a bit light. Breakfast was typical Continental style with a nice selection.
Genteel and charming small hotel located right on a canal for easy access. Location is good to St Marks Square, about a five-minute walk. Also convenient to restaurants on the Grand Canal. We had a tight departure time and chose to take the Water Taxi that came right to the hotel. It was well worth the 70 Euros and a very pretty early morning goodbye to a great city. Directions to get to the hotel are not correct. Zaccarais Vaperetto station has been moved. Consequently, when you exit the Vaporetto, you must lug your bags over the bridge immediately to the right to get to the Via Grecci that lies between the Hotel Modeno and the Church. Follow Via Grecci until you hit a “T”. You are facing a hotel. Go left and then bear around to the right and continue to the first major crossway. Now, turn right and continue until you go over a small bridge and immediately bear left along the canal. A short city block look on the right side of the building for a polished brass plate that says Palazzio Schiavone. Ring the bell!
