    Everything in Venice has atmosphere, but this hotel is really something. Hidden away in a cul-de-sac (I found it on the basis of the house number), it really is a gem, unspoiled by tacky modern fittings and with beauty inside and out. A very sweet (South American?) lady seemed to run the place just about on her own, but was helpful and friendly. On the first night I was given a palatial room by the entrance, where the beauty of the furniture contrasted somewhat with the Spartan simplicity of the bed, but I found this exciting. This hotel is good for anyone wanting an affordable place that is central, but particularly for those partial to a bit of homely and historical charm.
