This little b and b is advertised as being on a quiet, central alley. Well, you certainly can't beat the location - 5 minutes form St Marks, 2 minutes from the Rialto. Once you've found it, you'll be impressed with the fabric covered walls and the warm marble bathrooms. However, when the pub and snack bar round the corner are both packed out, don't expect to get to sleep early!
There's no breakfast room, so breakfast is served in your room. If there's two of you, this can be tricky as there's only room for one at the table so one of you is likely to get crumbs in the bed. Better to go out to a bar and get some proper coffee and a cream bun or ham croissant.
This place is worth staying at if you are booking late and can't find anywhere central at peak season. But don't pay the rack rate (at least 200 euros in peak). We were lucky and got it through a deal with a friend who works for a travel company, so it was good value.
Directions: From the Rialto vaporetto stop, take Calle Larga Mazzini and go straight on Mercerie San Salvador, then turn onto Calle Stagneri. Go straight for a few meters until you see the Residenza Goldoni on your right.
