This amazing hotel it just a 10 minute (1 bridge) walk to the heart of venice with hustle and bustle. BUT this is in a tranquil neighborhood, amid a BEAUTIFUL park, 5 min walk to water bus, ferry and water taxis. The hotel was beautiful, all the staff in the restuarant AND the front desk were very nice, with prompt service, along with very helpful tips on where to eat, ect. WOULD DEFINATLEY STAY AGAIN!
Wonderful Hotel

Stayed at the Sant'Elena as part of my tour group and loved it! Very modern, clean and spacious rooms - we had a small suite. Great service!
One thing that I love about Italians is that they understand the need for coffee, and the manager made me cofee twice even when the bar was closed!
The manager also made several calls for us to convey our passport numbers to a vendor we made a purchase from, so they could ship our goods to us in the States. He was fabulously helpful.
The breakfast was really quite good -- pancetta (Italian bacon) and eggs -- a rarity as we traveled South.
It rained buckets the whole time we were in Venice, so we spent a lot of time either at the hotel or relying on the hotel for accurate directions to local restaraunts and services and they never failed us!
Only complaint -- the hairdryers are useless, bring your own!
Otherwise, would happily live in -- not just stay at --the Hotel Sant'Elena and consider my life complete!
What a gorgeous place!

I stayed at the Sant'Elena as part of a Globus Tour in Sept. 2005. It's true that I got lucky and got a suite (maybe they ran out of regular rooms?), so my room was two stories, and had a marvelous terrace (see photos).
But the thing that really impressed me about this hotel was the cleanliness, and the hotel's staff. They were friendly at all times, very helpful, and a joy to be around. This is the best hotel experience I had on our tour, and one of my best in all of Italy. The hotel is located near Venice's Arsenal, which is only two traghetto boat stops away from St. Mark's place. It's on a beautiful park, perfect for strolling, and is in a nice, quiet neighborhood. It was wonderful to come home to this peaceful place at night, and nice to be treated as a guest, instead of an intruder. I would highly recommend this hotel!
Not a pleasant stay

We stayed here for 3 nights last year and found this hotel nice at first, it had a nice modern bedroom and good bathroom.
The problems began when we tried to make the freezing
cold room warm and noticed that the air conditioning was broken. We asked at reception if it was broken they said it was not. We continued to try to make it warmer and went to reception a further 3 times but the problem was not fixed for us and we were not offered another room. This meant that we had to sleep in very cold conditions and froze after getting out of the shower.
Breakfast was average and location was ok, however there were no shops or restaurants around so take this into account. Very close to the ferrys and only 4 stops from St Marco sq- watch out for the tourist trap restaurants though, we got caught out once!

The hotel is well situated, about 150 metres from the Sanr Elena waterbus stop.It is very smart and clean, the staff are very helpful and the breakfast is excellent. We had a normal double room which was quite large and nicely decorated in a modern style. The only criticism we had is there is no restaraunt. The breakfast room doubles as a bar from early evening, but there is no food. However there are cafes and small restaraunts very close by.I recommend this hotel to everybody.

Arrived late on Friday evening, found the hotel easily. Rooms modern and nicely decorated. Staff were very helpful. We thought it was a great location for our weekend in Venice.
