Getting from Bergamo airport to Verona

by gavjem

Having looked at Terravision it seemed I had the perfect transfer from Bergamo Airport to Verona Airport. However despite advertising a link (complete with timetable) I cannot book it, so I am looking for an alternative way of getting to Verona City / Airport. Any pointers?

Were you on http://www.terravision.eu/dolomites_verona.html and did you click on "how to book"? If so you will have found that it may speed things up to register with Terravision first.
I think I used the Terravision service from Milan Centrale to Bergamo al Serio without booking, buying tickets from the driver or ticket booth near the place where the bus goes from, both options are mentioned on here http://www.sacbo.it/Editorial/newsCategoryViewProcess.jsp?editorialID=2163¤tMenu=2189), but it could have been the Orioshuttle, see http://www.orioshuttle.com/?a=1&arg=0&l=e (if this is different!). If you really want an alternative way of getting to Verona, this would probably be it (in the opposite direction of course), followed by train to Verona, from where (station) there is a shuttle bus to Verona Airport, but I don't think you can book this - nor should it be necessary, you can buy all tickets on the spot.

Sure... you might ask to get out at Verona-airport.. would it be possible? I do not know! for sure you should buy the 22€ ticket like you go to Dolomites
If I had to go to Verona-city from Orio-al-Serio I would take an other bus, but if you've just to go to Verona Catullo because you've an other flight, I hope you have spare time between two flights.

By public means the problem is that there is an easy connection to Bergamo city itself, but Bergamo IS NOT along the main train line Milan-Venice.
So, going to Bergamo first (that may seems simple, but take a bus to Brescia if you find one of the few in a day), you'll need to take a train to Brescia, and from there another one towards Venice to Verona. An easy shuttle bus every 20 minutes connects the Verona Train Station and the airport.

Travel Tips for Verona

The river of Adige

by montezaro

The town of Verona is situated on the banks of the river Adige and it is the most eastern part of the Veneto region.
Eversince the ancient times, there was the settlement here on the crossroad of the important routes. During the Roman times Verona was important commercial and cultural centre. The golden age of the town was in the Middle Ages when the mighty lords of Scala ruled the place and the whole province. The most important historic sights of the town dates back from that period.

Verona - gabled window detail

by Martin_S.

Here again you can see the love and care lavished on a simple building. This is a place to live, not an art gallery, but still they put time, money and effort into making even a dwelling a work of art.

On the way to Piazza delle Erbe

by Azhut

Via Cappello is the main street that leads to Piazza delle Erbe, the heart of the town. If you want, you can call this it "The poetry's street", becuase of the Capuleti's house that inspired Shakespeare for his tragedy.

Vorìa cantar Verona, a una çerta ora
de note, quando monta su la luna
quando i boschi che dorme el par che i cora
dentro sogni de arche a far fortuna..

Today Via Cappello is maybe less romantic than inthe past, but very crowed and full of elegant boutiques as Via Mazzini.

The statue of Giulietta

by croisbeauty

Although it was August, when the town is owercrowded with the tourists, there was just a few people around the statue of Giulietta. Was it because of the extremely hot day or for some other reason I can only guess about. The fact is that in "normal" day you cannot approach near the statue coz the yard is to small for all those who wish to touch it. The bronze statue of Juliet is work by N. Costantini.

Buy your stamps at the big T

by globetrott

Some things in Italy are different from other places and so you will find a special kind of shop all over Italy, selling Tabacco, Salt and stamps. Do not expect to get stamps at the places, where you buy your postcards !!

In Verona you even have such a "Sale/Tabacchi" directely on Piazza Bra, next to the BRIX restaurant and it's sign has an important addition :
24 ore means it is Open 24 hours a day !!
