The river of Adige
by montezaro
The town of Verona is situated on the banks of the river Adige and it is the most eastern part of the Veneto region.
Eversince the ancient times, there was the settlement here on the crossroad of the important routes. During the Roman times Verona was important commercial and cultural centre. The golden age of the town was in the Middle Ages when the mighty lords of Scala ruled the place and the whole province. The most important historic sights of the town dates back from that period.

Here again you can see the love and care lavished on a simple building. This is a place to live, not an art gallery, but still they put time, money and effort into making even a dwelling a work of art.
On the way to Piazza delle Erbe
by Azhut
Via Cappello is the main street that leads to Piazza delle Erbe, the heart of the town. If you want, you can call this it "The poetry's street", becuase of the Capuleti's house that inspired Shakespeare for his tragedy.
Vorìa cantar Verona, a una çerta ora
de note, quando monta su la luna
quando i boschi che dorme el par che i cora
dentro sogni de arche a far fortuna..
Today Via Cappello is maybe less romantic than inthe past, but very crowed and full of elegant boutiques as Via Mazzini.
The statue of Giulietta
by croisbeauty
Although it was August, when the town is owercrowded with the tourists, there was just a few people around the statue of Giulietta. Was it because of the extremely hot day or for some other reason I can only guess about. The fact is that in "normal" day you cannot approach near the statue coz the yard is to small for all those who wish to touch it. The bronze statue of Juliet is work by N. Costantini.
