See the Teatro Romano (Roman Theater) and the Museo Archeologico (Archeoligal Museum). It dates back to the time of Augustus when Verona was a strong Roman outpost. A small Archeological Museum housed above the Teatro in an old monastery is included in the admission ticket. Photo above is taken from the museum looking down on the Verona.< For more information and photos, please go to the Teatro Romano Travelogue.
The museum

To get to the enclosed and monitored part of the archeological museum you can either walk or take a lift.
Its setting is actually an old monastery and the featured displays are in the rooms set around a courtyard.
The Jesuit order's premises became a museum in 1923.
Many of the bronzes come from the collection of Earl Jacopo Verita when he started acquiring around 1770. This particular piece, from Isola della Scala and dated 11th century AD shows Hercules fighting against the Lybic giant Anteus, son of the goddess Earth. He raises Anteus, thus denying him contact with his mother, who would have given him strength.
These small bronzes of gods were produced from Roman times to be offered to the gods in small sanctuaries.
Other statues were merely decorative, used as ornaments or as objet d'art in the houses of the rich.

explore the medieval RAGIONE PALACE.
The postcard (taken from my personal collection) below shows the quaint looking Maffei Stairs.
Do you know that this city was founded in the pre-Roman period on the Adige river banks and was a very important trading center during the Roman times?? I just found this out not too long ago. Once you join a city tour, the local guide will be able to tell you everything you ever wanted to know (but were afraid to ask!) about this lovely Italian city and its equally-charming Palace.
Love-letters posted close to Juliet's balcony
by globetrott
In the entrance of the building, where you may see the famous (BUT false) balcony , where Giulietta Capelletti met Romeo Montecchi, you may stick your Love-letters on a wall , where you may find already thousands of other love-letters.
To post your love-letters there is to be said to be some sort of a guarantee for a love lasting forever....
....so take your chance, as even writings directely on the wall seem to be working well !!
maybe you should just waterproof your body

I was ill-prepared to spend some months in Verona. I was never under the impression that it rained so much there, especially during the summer. Hence, I brought barely any warm clothes and only a small rainjacket. A big umbrella would have done me some good, as it poured continuously throughout the months of August and September. There were many occasions in which I was walking home and ended up getting drenched. It even hailed one night and the winds were so turbulent that it caused the ceiling in my building to collapse. Talk about a freak accident.
