William Shakespeare - "Romeo and Juliet"

AND WORLD'S EXILE IS DEATH: .... "
"NON ESISTE MONDO FVOR DALLE MVRA DI VERONA:

My worst football related moment in Verona
As you also can read on my Torino-page, I've had a great time with my friends Paolo and Marcus, driving to different footballgames in Italy.
Not so nice memories with Paolo's car though....
We had been to Chievo-Red Star in the Uefacup in 2002, and were now on our way back to Milano. Five persons in the little car, which was definately at least two persons more than possible for that car.
Suddenly it broke down, and Paolo could just drive in 30 km/h, on the highway...
Not so nice, in the middle of the night...
We managed to get to a gas-station, where they fixed the car, saying "hopefully it will last until Milano, but you should check the car again tomorrow".
It lasted for 15 minutes, and then it was down to 30 km/h again...
In some way we managed to get to Milano, without getting smashed by another car. But there, when we just had driven off the highway, it was time for the accident.
From behind another car came up, not noticing we were driving slowly, and smashed right into the back of our car.
We three in the backseat had no safetybelt (impossible to take it on in that little car) and I have no idea how we managed to go on unhurted. The other car was for sure driving at least in 70-80 km/h, and no one of us got even the slightest hurt.
We got out of the car, and meet 5 very strange people from the other car. Wouldn't say they were drunk, but for sure their eyes looked a bit too big for not using any drugs...
They claimed it was our fault, and at one moment it was close to a fight, when they were talking so much *** it wasn't possible...
In the end everything went fine, and we managed to get back home, although we took a taxi the last kilometers.
After that we never went to Verona in car again... ;)
Verona - the "writing" on the wall
The custom here at Juliet's home is to write your name on something and stick it to the wall of the house. This is a closeup of the door and you can see literally hundreds of names written in marker, ink, pen and even white-out. When they ran out of room the began to stick bubblegum and write on the dried bubblegum (and you can still smell some of them). The whole of the walls from the ground up to the height you can reach with outstretched arms is covered in these and there are also some points higher where they must have stood on a ladder or the shoulders of a friend.
Porta Borsari - one of...
Porta Borsari - one of Verona's old Roman gates. In fact it used to be the largest of the Roman gates and it's quite sad to see how it is now stuck in amongst these other buildings with a road running under it (actually the same fate has befell many of York's old gates...). We found this by accident as we were heading back to the station - we took a wrong turn. Glad we did.
Arco della Costa / the arch of the Rib
Watch out for the interesting Whale-rib that hangs down since more than 1000 years from "Arco della Costa".
There is a ledgend, saying that the whale-rib will not fall down untill the moment, that a person walks under it, who never told a lie .
Kings and popes walked underneath and nothing happened - the bone remained there even in the moment, when Lothar(lerch) and I went under it....
...I simply DO NOT believe such ledgends...
...but there are certainly more rewards in real life for liars than for people who stick to the truth . But where else than in Verona will they also be thrown a whale-rip on their head, when walking at the wrong places...?? :-)
