San Pietro Hill
by montezaro
San Pietro Hill is situated on the left bank of the river Adige, right above the Archaeological Museum and Roman Theatre. The top of the hill dominates the Castle of San Pietro, which was forticitacion built by the times of Austrian rule of the town of Verona.
It definetely worth to visit because you will be aworded by the magnificent view of the historic centre of Verona and its close surroundings.
The Adige river
by Azhut
I found Verona a very fashinating town not only for its wonderful monuments and historical works but also because of its river the Adige. When you have time to explore better the town I suggest a walking along the river where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Teatro romano and San Pietro, one of the surroundings area of Verona.
Piazza Bra - Arena
by croisbeauty
The Arena covers an elliptical site measuring 456 feet by 360 feet, and the dimensions of the pit are 243 feet by 144 feet. The load-bearing structure consists of concrete and rubble with an external facing of brick and stone quarried from the hills around the town. This combination of materials produces an attractive colour contrast.
Verona Pass
by sandysmith
It was surprising to learn that several of Verona's churches and the Duomo had an entrance fee so If you're planning to visit several churches and museums invest in a Verona Pass but remember nearly everything is closed on Mondays. Verona Card valid for one day costs 8 Euro three days costs 12 Euro - for free entry to museums, churches and monuments in the city and free travel on the local AMT bus services.
Over 3 days we visited 9 of the 15 valid attractuions (such as Juliet's house, tomb, the arena and the lamberti tower) and had saved on our euros.
Mountain activities
by Sjalen
If you haven't already realised it as you arrive by plane or by maybe train from the north, climbing Torre dei Lamberti or even the height of the Arena will quickly make you realise how close the Alps are to the city (you might need to click on this pic to see it). This means that there are plenty of opportunities for hiking and cycling in the mountains.
I haven't made a separate tip for this so: if you are a windsurfer instead, you could visit nearby Lake Garda which is great for it. The tourist offices in the region will be able to tell you where to find cycle rental and other gear you might need.
