"Historic Border Town"
We took the train from Nice to Ventimiglia for the Friday Market ....
Eleven kilometers from France, Ventimiglia is a typical border town, with a
string of duty-free shops near the station, and French spoken as often as
Italian.
Across the river is the old quarter, where the Lombard-Romanesque
Cattedrale and Baptistry are separated from the eleventh-century
Church of San Michele by echoing alleyways and stone piazzas ....
