Hotel Mega Mare: Good hotel, outstanding views

Our room was good sized; from its balcony we had spectacular views of the Bay of Naples, Vesuvius, and the Sorrentina Peninsula. The bathroom was small with a tiny shower. The semi-attached restaurant, Bellamare, offers food that varies from rather good to downright bad, though service and views -- from the outside seating area -- are outstanding.

There's no internet, though internets cafe are available (1) at Tito's on SS-145 in the center of Vico and (2) a kilometer away in Meta. Parking is also available in Meta near the Circumvesuviana railway station (for trips to Pompeii, Herculanæum, and Naples as well as Sorrento).

Satellite television in the rooms carry both CNN and the BBC. Beds (twins pushed together) are comfortable.

The complimentary breakfast in the hotel itself is good: hard-boiled eggs, cheeses, cold cuts, various rolls and pastries, cappuccino and other coffees, teas, juices, and more.

Unique Quality: The views cannot be beat.

With one exception, the staff were friendly and accommodating. Luciano, in particular, was helpful, phoning to make reservations for us in Sorrento and Sant' Agata sui due Golfi and writing out precise directions to remote Sant' Agata sui due Golfi.

The exception was the parking lot attendant, a surly man who refused to allow us to park near the steps leading down to hotel; instead, he ordered us to park in an area that required us to traipse a great distance to the hotel. (When he wasn't present we parked near the steps.)
