Friendly and comfortable stay at a reasonable price (breakfast included).

My girlfriend and I spent 1 night at the 2* Stafford Hotel during our weekend visit to Jersey in April 2009.
We paid 50 GBP per night for a twin room with en-suite facilities and a cooked buffet breakfast.
We booked online directly through the hotel’s website and paid no deposit at the time of booking. We settled the bill upon checking out of the hotel at the end of our stay.
Location
Stafford Hotel is located on Kensington Place, a short walk from the centre of St Helier in one direction and St Aubins Bay Promenade and beach in the other direction.
The shops, restaurants and bars of St Helier, the island’s capital, can be reached on foot in 5-10 minutes. The central Liberation Square (with the bus station of the same name) is around 10 minutes walk from the hotel, although you can more easily catch a bus from one of the stops on the promenade just a couple of minutes walk away.
The beach is a mere 5 minute walk away and from there you can easily walk out to Elizabeth Castle at low tide in about 20 minutes or walk along the beach to the west to the small town of St Aubin with its picturesque harbour, long sandy beach and seaside fort in around 45 minutes. Similarly, walking to the west towards St Aubin and then heading inland brings you to the famous Jersey War Tunnels Museum in around 45 minutes – 1 hour.
Bedroom
Our medium sized room was clean, comfortable and well furnished. It exceeded what I was expecting from a 2* hotel.
The room contained two single beds, a TV, a wardrobe, lots of cupboards, an armchair, a trouser press and tea and coffee making facilities. The room was well heated and had plenty of light.
The en-suite facilities included a bathtub, washbasin and toilet. The bathroom was a reasonable size and spotlessly clean, and we were provided with soap and fresh towels. Our only complaint was that the bathroom contained no shower – not even a shower attachment in the bathtub. This would have been a problem if we’d been staying for longer than one night.
Our room was located above the bar area and was very noisy at night. The hotel was hosting an inter-island darts competition between Jersey and Guernsey during the weekend of our stay and the competition and accompanying party lasted until the early hours of the morning. It kept us awake for a while, but it was no big deal and we eventually slept through it.
Breakfast
Due to the large number of darts players and their entourage staying at the hotel, the breakfast room was exceptionally busy on the Sunday morning of our stay. The food trays were being depleted rapidly and the staff were struggling to refill them and to keep up with the demands for coffee and tea (which, for some reason, was served at the table by the waiters rather than on a self-service basis).
There was a good choice of food (once the trays had been refilled) and if you’re a fan of fried English breakfasts you’ll probably not be disappointed. Help yourself to cereals, croissants, pastries, toast, bacon, sausages, fried and scrambled eggs, mushrooms, tomatoes, hash browns, slices of cheese and cold meats, yoghurts and fruit juice. We enjoyed a good filling breakfast which set us up nicely for a day of sightseeing.
General
We arrived at the hotel early on a Saturday morning and our room wasn’t quite ready. The receptionist showed us into the comfy lounge area and we took a seat in there for a while as she went to find out when our room would be available. We were told that the room would be ready for us by 10am, so we went for a short walk around St Helier and returned an hour or so later to check in, and sure enough our room was ready and waiting for us.
The reception area contains lots of useful leaflets and fliers for nearby activities and discount coupons for local restaurants.
There is a bar area with pool table.
After checking out of the hotel, we were able to leave our luggage behind reception for the day at no charge.
A good value hotel in a convenient location between the town and the beach. Clean, comfortable rooms and a hearty breakfast included in the price. The only downside was the lack of a shower in the bathroom. I’d happily stay at Stafford Hotel again.
