The Caslte’s Park
by LanaFromRiga
The Caslte’s Park is the town’s most beautiful park and a favourite place for relaxation. The origins of the park date back 1812, when work first began to turn the adjacent Riekstu Kalns (Nut Hill) and the castle ruins into a park. So calm and green place in the middle of the town
Feel like the knight

I get most strong impression after visiting Old Livonian Castle’s ruins. First, we had to put on safety caps and take candlelight. It seemed so romantic in the start. Climbing to the top of Old Castle’s Tower, during 2-3 metres no windows, absolutely darkness and you can see only candlelight – extreme. However, the result is fantastic – grandiose castle’s Tower and view to the Cesis.
Sietiniezis Rock
by js77
This very impessive sandstone rock is located on the banks of river Gauja between Cesis and Valmiera. Unlikely to some other sandstone rocks of Latvia this is white and it’s very large, too. When you will come to it, it will not seem that large, but then after one corner there is more sandstone and after one another there is more. This place is very hard to reach without a car. May be you can try taxi if you are rich enough or rent a bycicle from Cesis or Valmiera. If you are going by your own car then some 15 km before Valmiera turn to the right from the Riga-Valmiera road and further follow the signs to Sietiniezis. The next 7 km you will have to go by dirt road. There is another shorter, but not so good road – in case you will rent a bycicle and will go there from Cesis. That case you will need a good map, for example, a map of Cesu rajons (Cesis region) - but be sure there are signs for tourist attractions on this map.

Rigas iela (Riga Street)
by LanaFromRiga
Rigas iela (Riga Street) became the town’s main thoroughfare in the late 13th century, with a rich architecture and history. See in here are the majority of the historically and architecturally most important buildings in Cesis: the Rathaus (Rigas iela 7), the Trader’s House (Rigas iela 16) and Harmony House (Rigas iela 24)
