As it started raining in Riga we jumped in the car and drove northwards to find a dry place to camp. As the rain become stronger we decided to stay in a motel. On the coastal road south of Ainazi we found a small roadsign "Rooms".
The Motel surprised us a lot. It was 500m off the major road amidst a forest, hardly to see from the road. Rooms were very clean. You could play minigolf, volleyball or soccer in the backyard.

Quite a good type of budget accommodation. Located not close to the city centre (on the road to the airport) but very well accessible from the centre (and the main station) by tram No 2 . We had a double room with a shower and shared toilet . The room was clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful although it was better to speak Russian (in order to be better understood). The price (144 euro for 2 people for 4 nights) included breakfast which was very big and different every day. We could also park our car in the courtyard for free.

All I can say is WOW! I am really not the type of person who usually is into writing reviews and rating things, but these guys REALLY helped me a lot, so I just had to say something:) I have rented the apartment through this company several times and every time their service was really good and professional. Besides having really nice apartments in the Old Town of Riga, they also often offer discounts, sometimes not too big, but still, when you rent an apartment for 10 days, even a 3 euro discount per night matters. Besides all the assistants are extremely nice:) I highly recommend this agency!
All the apartments are in really good shape and you always get what you asked for.

But the ideal plan for a stay at Vaivari is when you want to really escape from the world. I believe that there is a SAS Radisson located accross a bridge a short taxi fare from Riga main shopping centre though the extra cost of staying there would not entice me for the believe small increase in quality of rooms. Better to stay more central in the Hotel Riga.
Directly opposite the Theatre in Riga it is well located and has a nice Historic and Architectual features about it. Theme: HotelComparison: about averageDirections: Centre of Riga a large Hotel which is I believe state owned though this should not put you off staying there as I have stayed in worse Radisson SAS and Forte Hotels in the past.

I was lucky enough to stay with Tija during her name day, where she threw a huge party. This gave me an opportunity to meet many of the locals and for us to learn more about each other.

Rone informed that a new bar in the lobby with 80 seats will be opened, a restaurant ''Esplanade'' with 250 seats and a summer terrace, but on the second floor - a modern conference hall with up to 350 seats, a banquet hall and nine smaller conference halls.
The area of the conference center will be 1,800 square meters with seating for up to 900 people. The panorama bar ''Skyline'' is located on the 26th floor with 130 seats. A fitness and recreation center will be located on the 27th floor. A casino, night club, and parking lots are located in the basement.
