the prison Hostel: Accommodation in Lapaje

I have not stayed in the Prison Hostel. I have stayed at the relatevely new international Youth Hostel on the beach road, which was fine. But I have heard that there is an ex soviet prison, that ti is now converted to hotel-hostel and that guest even wear the priison clothing. I found out too late so I couldn't check it out myself, but if any of you has the time to look for it could be a unique experience. I heard it is the only one in the world

Minhauzena Unda: On your way to Estonia

Very well located in Saulkrasti (on the main road to Estonia, but a bit distant and hidden among the trees). Easy to find, recently refurbished with good amenities, not far from the sea. May be overcrowded in high season, so book in advance. Friendly staff.

Homestay Riga: Riga's famous B&B

Simply great. With Diga and Ric as your hosts, a beautiful wooden house with cosy rooms and perfect beds to stay in, hearty breakfasts and good company each morning, what else would you need?!

In fact I didn't stay there during my visit to Latvia, but i think it would be a great opportunity to spend some time off the bitten path in nice surroundings.

Coffee at the cafe was awful but the food looked not bad.

Valentina Motel: Not bad and affordable accommodation

Quite a good type of budget accommodation. Located not close to the city centre (on the road to the airport) but very well accessible from the centre (and the main station) by tram No 2 . We had a double room with a shower and shared toilet . The room was clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful although it was better to speak Russian (in order to be better understood). The price (144 euro for 2 people for 4 nights) included breakfast which was very big and different every day. We could also park our car in the courtyard for free.

Riga-Style agency: Best apartment service in Riga!

All I can say is WOW! I am really not the type of person who usually is into writing reviews and rating things, but these guys REALLY helped me a lot, so I just had to say something:) I have rented the apartment through this company several times and every time their service was really good and professional. Besides having really nice apartments in the Old Town of Riga, they also often offer discounts, sometimes not too big, but still, when you rent an apartment for 10 days, even a 3 euro discount per night matters. Besides all the assistants are extremely nice:) I highly recommend this agency!

All the apartments are in really good shape and you always get what you asked for.

Private hotel Serena: Only if you speak Russian:(

So, if you dont know Russian, this place definitely will be a challange for you.That was a great surprise when I brought my friend to this hotel- the administrator didnt speak English at all. Moreover, my attempts to communicate with her in Latvian were unsuccesful as well. Finally, thanks to my Russian knowledge we were able to understand each other.. After half-an -hour I met there two Finnish tourist who were sooo embarrased trying to explain her that they want to know where to leave their car. Otherwise- it is in a good location (almost in the old town, 15 minutes walk to central station and bus station, 5 min to bus stop to/from airport). The rooms have been recently repaired, nice but nothing special, you can see that the cheapest materials have been used.
Breakfest is taken into your room by the same lady. Usually it consists from some pieces of bread, I cup of tea or coffee, two tiny sausages and some pieces of a vegetable.
I would say- the prize of this place is inadequately high for the service/.

This is a wonderful place right close to the old Riga center.
This Bed and Breakfast consists of a building flight with 5 rooms, living room and kitchen with very nice ambiance and very clean indeed. Its quite pricy but its worth it. The staff is very polite and the Lady owner is also very nice person.

I stayed on a king size bed bedroom with a private bath tv and very good presentation for 54 euros. 38 LAT.
This price includes morning breakfast.
Right next door exists a Krishna restaurant.
