Hotel Riga: Good Central Location

Hadn't planned on staying here, but my first accommodation didn't work out. I arrived very late to the hotel at about 03.00. Must compliment the female hotel receptionist who was totally professional and helpful, I even got a discount on the room rates for l arriving late and for booking two nights. The rooms are of high quality as the hotel in general but with European prices to match. Not for one on a budget but I would recommend it highly because of the location. I’m sure prices will rise further as Latvia is made more accessible to Europeans by the low fares airlines.

It's strong point is it excellent location opposite the National Opera House and over looking the river. Make sure to request a room over looking the river!

Motel on roadside near Ainazi

As it started raining in Riga we jumped in the car and drove northwards to find a dry place to camp. As the rain become stronger we decided to stay in a motel. On the coastal road south of Ainazi we found a small roadsign "Rooms".
The Motel surprised us a lot. It was 500m off the major road amidst a forest, hardly to see from the road. Rooms were very clean. You could play minigolf, volleyball or soccer in the backyard.
All in all we payed 10 Lat (~15 Euro) for one night.

Latgale Hotel in Rezekne: Another Soviet Style Hotel

Rooms ok, no breakfast, price around 20 Lats, located right at the main square of Rezekne.

Also this hotel gives true Soviet feeling: lobby, corridors, interior and in particular the bathroom.

Bauska Hotel: Soviet Style Accommodation in Bauska

If you want to experience a bit of Soviet feeling stay at this hotel located in the city of Bauska. Rooms, furniture, corridor, stair case and bathroom have the distinct soviet feeling. When we were there they had no hot water for one month due to some works going on. No breakfast either, the price of 7.50 Lats is however very good for what you get.

well, in Riga the hotels are very expensive but in case you like to take care of your own catering, then you have another solution, you can rent an apartment, as they are not so much expensive.

You can get an apartment since € 45 / night just in city center
