Does anybody know it there is private transport or mini busses available from Riga to the hill of crosses? There is a bus but the time is very inconvenient and took quite long. Thank you

I am afraid there is no available busses from Riga to hill of Crosses,
but otherwise there is one way how to get there.
First of all you have to take a bus from Riga to Siauliai (Šiauliai). Here is the schedule (unfortunately I didnt find Latvian bus station). It may cost nearly 40-50Lt. It's about 12-15 eu

Then from the same station you need to take another bus which is going to Joniskis (Joniškis). Here is the schedule:

and you need to get out of the bus in DOMANTAI station (it's third from Šiauliai).
Actually Domantai stattion is on the way Šiauliai-Riga, so probably it might be possible to ask the driver to let you out in this station.

Riga in my memory as a city near very wide big river Daugava. Actually, the river looks like a sea and you need few minutes to go from one bank of river to another. I really suggest to go near the river, to see nice bridges, boats, people fishing and so on. It is just near the old town and such sight as Riga castle in best view you can see only going to another bank of Daugava.
I have loaned this slogan from Carlsberg's beer, but that good that they are saying that their beer "PROBABLY" is the best. I would say that we Latvians can say with certainity. The biger brewer in Latvia is "Aldaris" but according to my pont of wiev it lies somewhere benieth of Latvian beers. But here is something to admit - president of brewery - Vitaly Gavrilov. He is the most colour person in Latvian business, with loving latvian folk dances and songs. He is really interesting person.
In a way I was delighted to see this relict of Soviet architecture in Riga - the typical Soviet skyscraper type building, which houses the Academy of Science. I put it here in the "Off The Beaten Path" section, because we actually never got there - it is on the other side of where we spent our time!
From what I read there is an elevator which you can take up to the 17th floor (they do charge 1,50 Lats) - this should give you an excellent view of the old city of Riga! As I said, we never went there, but it sure is an option!

Riga is famous for it's Amber and a lot of visitors will no doubt take a piece of Amber Jewellery home for a friend or a loved one, Prices Do compare Very Favourably but make 100% sure that what you are buying is the Real thing !! If in doubt Only buy from a Reputable dealer !!
Thanks God It's Friday - its not the bar which americans knows, though the name for it is the same. It's Caribbean night club with appropiate interior, music and staff. Trendy place which is beloved for young and succseful persons, frequently visited by Latvian pop stars. Great coctails and bartenders' performance. Fridays' evenings are saluted with poorly dressed gogo girls. It's Caribbean nightclub you know :) And you are welcom to participate in bar dancing :) No dres code, but you won't feel comfortable in sportswear.
