Feeding baby in Riga

by maria_hz

This question feels silly to me as I've been in Riga a dozen times, but even when I was pregnant it didn't occur to me to check these things.... But here we go:

What kind of baby food is there available in supermarkets in Riga, eg Rimi? Porridge, baby formula, puréed fruit, vegetables and poultry/fish etc?
And restaurants, are there baby high chairs available in any of them?

My baby girl is 7 months and on solids but has no teeth yet. We are flying out next week for a long awaited trip abroad :)

Thanks a million!

Hi,Maria
Do not worry,Riga is normal European city,so you can easily find some food for your baby girl at supermarkets or you can use special shops like Hipp,Milupa etc.

Travel Tips for Riga

Superb architect

by Toshioohsako

Walking around in Riga, you will find beautiful old houses, offices, embassy building and small streets. Almost any corner you stop, you sigh and say "How beautiful Riga is". Nice and cozy small streets cafes and richly decorated buildings-be it be embassy building, private houses and offices.

The restaurant serve good food and visually artistic meals. People are working hard but they are not so much stressed.

Museum slippers

by kit_mc

In the Museum of Firefighting we were asked to wear these lovely slippers over our shoes. This was kind of difficult because of the large winter boots we were wearing, they kept slipping off, but rules are rules.

It's not often that you have to wear such things in museums, but these were even more bizarre than the plastic slippers that I had to wear in a philatelic museum in Budapest.

Bobsleighing!

by mandybailey

It's an hour on a train or a bus to Sigulda, where there's an Olympic bobsleigh track! And for 5 lats per person you can go down in a soft bob. (5 lats is £5. It's more expensive to go in hard bob but not much more).

It's only available on weekends when the track isn't being used by the pro's and you can just turn up, don't be tricked into booking a tour which will end up costing you more, it's really cheap and easy to get there by yourself!

We arrived, they put helmets on us, told us to sit in and then pushed us down! It's so incredibly fast and quite scary! We bounced off some corners and went really high round others! It seemed a miracle that we didn't overturn! The adrenaline rush is amazing, make sure you have a go!

To get there walk down the railway track from the train station in the direction of Riga for about 5 mins and you can't miss the track on your right.

If you took the bus get off at the stop for Sigulda, cross the road, take the first right and keep walking until you come to the main road (you'll see the train tracks) and turn left and follow the train tracks, the bobsleigh track is on your right. None required.
