Love padlocks
by MalenaN
A tradition for newly married couples in Riga (I also saw it in Sigulda) is to put a padlock on a bridge railing and then throw the key in to the water below. Many of the padlocks are engraved with the names of the couple. It is a way of declaring the bond between them forever. The bridges are cleared now and then though to give space for new padlocks. Footbridges over the Pilsetas canal are popular places to put the padlocks.
This custom is done in other cities as well, for example in Rome, Tokyo and Pécs. The custom is believed to have begun in Pécs in the 1980s.

Here I feel myself.
You don't pay so much. On ground floor the bar where you can have your drink and meet good people. Underground a small disco where you can have fun dancing!
Everytime I came back from there to my apartment when outside the sun light was up! No special dress required
To and from the airport
by MalenaN
From Riga airport I took buss 22 in to the city centre. When you come out from the arrival hall the bus stop is to the right. I bought the ticket on the bus and it was 0.40 Ls (December 2008). It took 25 minutes to go to the centre (bus station/train station). Also when I went back to the airport I took bus number 22. It is leaving from 13 janvara iela (near the bus station) and at that time there was more traffic and the ride took 35 minutes. It leaves a few times every hour.
There is also another bus going to the city centre, number22a. It is more express and also cost a little bit more. It leaves every half an hour and stops near the Orthodox Cathedral.
