Enkurs is a small hotel on Caka street, about 2 km from the old town of Riga. We arrived at the hotel soaking wet as we had decided to walk there from the bus station - not a good idea when it's raining and you're hungry and tired and carrying a heavy back bag... Our room wasn't ready yet, so we left our baggage at the hotel and went to this pizza place nearby that the girl at the reception had recommended.
When we finally got our room, it was a VERY small twin room with two single beds, a writing desk, minibar, TV and a bathroom with shower and a hairdryer. The bathroom was quite spacious compared to the size of the room itself. I had reserved a small room (it was a bit cheaper), but didn't expect it to be so small, but since we weren't going to spend our time at the hotel, it wasn't too bad. Only when we unpacked all our stuff, we would have liked some extra space.
The walls in the hotel appeared to be very thin, we could hear almost everything from the next room, not to mention from the corridor. On our second night it got a bit annoying as we wanted to get a good night sleep because we had to get up at five in the next morning. Fortunately for us the noise stopped before midnight!
The breakfast was adequate, they served pancakes, omelette, bread, cheeses, juice and tea/coffee.
Directions: From old town: Walk Barona Str. till you get to Matisa Str., turn right, then turn left on Caka Str. and the hotel is a few metres away on the left side. Or take trolleybus #23 or #18 from the central station, they stop almost in front of the hotel.
