I stayed at Konventa Seta (Convent Court) in July 2004 - this hotel is a complex of nine medieval buildings, with an excellent location in the middle of the Old Town, near St. Peter's Church.
This 3-star hotel offers 141 rooms of varying standards - our small double room was quite basic, but clean, quiet - and comfortable enough. Our room had a tiny tv and small fridge (not all rooms have got a fridge), but not much else in the way of amenities - the room was simple and quite bare - you're paying for the location here, the rest of the hotel is pretty average. Since the hotel consists of many different buildings the rooms vary a lot when it comes to size, view, noise etc - make sure to specify any particular desires upon reservation or check-in... A few non-smoking rooms are available.
Around the former convent's courtyard there are several souvenir shops, a restaurant and a bar. There was no breakfast included with our room, 'cause we got a very good price - but there is usually a small buffet breakfast included in the room price. The hotel staff were...indifferent, and slightly rude (but that's not unusual for Latvia), and seemed to have a bit of an attitude - they first quoted one price, and when we returned with our luggage the price had increased.
Double rooms usually start at ca 90 euros - but this could be negotiated, we paid 55.
