The breakfast was excellent. It has cerials, yoghurt, fresh fruits (pineapple, melon, apple, kiwi etc), three different cheeses, homemade cheese, ham, bacon, boiled and scrambled egg, bread, danish, pancakes, saucices...
SAUNA department: morning sauna was included in the room price from 7am-10am (?). What was interesting was that there were only one sauna room. So men and women use the same steam room. I dont know how they have thought it should work but our friend went to morning sauna and the personel told us that the sauna is not free. We were totally like question marks as normally in Finland there are two separate saunas, one for women and one for men. Well, the sauna itself is excellent.
But remember when going to the steam room OPEN the "lock" in the ceiling as it is part of the ventilation and should be open when bathing. I must say that this sauna is really excellent! There is enough air in the steam room but actually the temperature should be between 60-80C when bathing. Now, they had the temperature as high as 100C and that is pretty tough, even for Finns! Take the sauna, it is great!
Monika Hotel was opened only 2005 and it has around 80 rooms. Breakfast was great, location good, super clean rooms, lobby and breakfast room. Our room (508) was quiet, windows were facing middle of the building, not to the street. One minus point was the airconditioning in the room, it could not be turned off for some reason. There was a control panel in the room but it was out of order. The airconditioning in our friends room worked ok and it could be turned off.
The room had a safe, hair drier, minibar, shoe polish. They provide complimentary toothbrush kit from reception if you ask.
