 | Riga Radisson Sas Daugava Reviews | 1 - 4 of 4 | | | | | | Radisson Sas Daugava: Good Hotel, wrong side of the river
| | | | |
The hotel is located on the banks of Daugava River, opposite side of Old Town. You can reach downtown by complimentary Radisson bus shuttle (every full hour) or easily by foot, which takes 10 minutes. From the airport you can also take complimentary Radisson bus shuttle or by cab. Watch out: red cab: 7 Lats, black cab 12 Lats, white cab: 20 Lats or more! It takes about 15 minutes. The room was nice, located on the 9th floor with a great view overlooking Riga's Old City. The hotel has several restaurants, bars, a casino, shop, beauty & spa, business centre and free wireless internet access in your room. They provide lots of tourist information, such as free maps, etc. The staff was alright, not too friendly acutually. Leave a Comment

The Radisson is situated on the left bank of the Daugava River and overlooks Riga Skyline and Old Town. Its approx 10 minutes walk across the bridge into Old Town. The building from the outside is built with Russian influence so its a dreary square box. We booked this hotel primary for having a safe secure place for our hired car and it was supposed to also house Europcar office (that no longer exists) for drop off. Check in - Everything went smoothly and the staff very efficient and friendly. Room – Our room 815 was on the Business Class floor and was roomy, airy and comfortable. The room consisted of a king size bed, bedside tables, good size working desk, internet connection, couch, two chairs, coffee table, TV, mini bar and a fab coffee machine. A door lead out to a small concrete balcony which overlooked communists housing blocks and the carport. We were also given free bottles of water and a lovely fruit basket every day. Turndown service was also excellent. Bathroom – good size with shower over bath, heated towel rack, good make-up mirror, bathrobes and slippers were also supplied. Breakfast – marvelous with a chef cooking eggs and a excellent selection of ham, cheese. Pastries, juices etc.etc….staff were also very sociable and efficient. Restaurant – We had a pleasant lunch and found everything up to the standard we know for a 5 star hotel in the Baltic States. Facilities – The hotel is a 5 star rating because of its facilities on offer. There is a bank for changing money, swimming pool, fitness centre, hairdresser, broadband connection, laundry service, secure parking and a free shuttle bus or free taxi vouchers to take you to the Old Town. The Casino is located next door and is also apart of the hotel.
Overall – Although this hotel is thought as being on the wrong side of the river, we had absolutely no problem with the location. The hotel has a shuttle bus and also gives you a free voucher for a taxi ride if the bus is not operating. The walk across the bridge is very easy and takes 10 minutes, it’s a wonderful place to take some photos of Riga’s skyline and bridges. The hop on/hop off tour bus stops outside the hotel. We enjoyed our room and the hotel and would recommend it to others. This hotel would be the best suited to those traveling by car. Old Town has limited parking facilities. The only negative I could find was our view but then again it depends how you look at it…to me, its just the reflection of Riga’s dramatic history.
