HI!
Does anybody heard about weekends in RIga?
I have advice for one firm...but have doubts.
Depends on what you mean. If you're talking about stag weekends, then I'd say travel some place else (stag parties - Brits mainly - are *very* unpopular in Riga these days... also be aware that prices in Riga have increased a lot recently, and drinks etc aren't particularly cheap anymore)
But if you're a "normal" tourist, interested in seeing Riga and experiencing more than just bars and strip clubs, then I'd say sure, go! (I have spent 4-5 months in Riga in the past few years, and always have a great time there)
If you seek good advice on travelling and accomodation go to the Riga Tourist Information Centre on the square with the blackheads house. The staff is always super friendly and they speak English as well as German sometimes. They can give you info on all areas of latvija and call for you at hotels if you ask with a smile.

The 19th century Russian Orthodox cathedral on Brivibas iela was converted to an astronomical observatory during the anti-religious Soviet era. Since independence it's been restored to it's proper use, though locals still refer to it as the 'Planetarijs'.

A typical Irish bar which has become a very popular place with expats - football on Sky around the clock and Rugby shown, making it a natural choice for many. There is cheap and plentiful food - from all day breakfast, through sandwiches and typical "Irish fayre".
Apparently as Riga has become a new hotspot for stagnights, it has become very popular with stag parties - and all the trappings that they bring with them. Usually very quiet during the day but heaving at night, no dress code - from memory
Ryan Air flies to Riga from Tampere, Finland for a very reasonable price. Even very close to Christmas we managed to get our one way tickets for only 15 euros per person, including taxes.
As for getting to and from the airport, don't take the Ryanair bus from the railway station in Tampere. Instead take one of the local buses and you pay half the price (only 3 euros). In Riga's end the bus ticket cost was so minimal that you can jump to any bus at all. Actually we didn't pay anything in Riga as they didn't want to take notes in the bus.
If you're travelling around Scandinavia, this is a very cheap and convenient way to get back to the mainland Europe. No hassle with ferries.
