I stayed at the Europa Royale hotel for one night in August 2012. I arrived obscenely early (like, 5:45 am) and was able to use the most amazing toilet I've ever seen, freshen up a bit in the washroom (I wasn't too sure about using the hot water though- check the photo) and check my bags so I could spend the morning exploring.
Later in the day I returned to the hotel and checked in to my room. It was small but not cramped, and featured floor-to-ceiling windows that opened onto a small courtyard. Looking out over the courtyard I got a better sense of how the building was initially used as a printing press. My bed was comfortable and the bathroom had good hot water and soft towels. Also, there was some pretty epic, crappy Eastern European reality TV on the free stations. I had a great sleep here- it was very quiet.
The hotel has a number of facilities including two rather-hidden internet stations near the restaurant, a beautiful statue in the courtyard and a (way, way, way over-priced) spa center. There is a hot and cold breakfast buffet each morning, and on my first day (when I arrived at 5:45 am) they allowed me to purchase breakfast (overpriced at 25 litu, when the room itself only cost 150 litu).
Directions: About 500 metres north of the bus station, on the west (left) side of the park.
