Atsiprasau, kur yra tual etas?'
by SapineKuu
For those who believe the true measure of civilisation is the condition of public toilets (you know who you are) rest assured Kaunas is likely to meet with your approval. There are facilities adjacent to the Town Hall Square usefully located next door to the Tourist Information Office. For a small fee a slightly fearsome woman will let you use them. Please note that payment does not buy her soul and service with a smile is unlikely to be forthcoming.

Perkunas House
by bugulma
The most original gothic house in Kaunas (guidebook says that it is most original in all Lithuania), was built in the late XV century. In XVI century the house was sold to Jesuits who built a chapel here in 1643. In XIX century the house was restorated and used as museum and theater and was named as Perkunas' House (Perkunas is baltic nations' God of thunder). The house is situated not far from Ratusa Square, on Aleksoto Street.
Wedding Ceremonies
by HORSCHECK
When wandering around Kaunas on a summer weekend you will probably see quite a few young couples getting married in one of the lovely churches or the Town Hall (Rotuse).
We saw at least 4 weddings on a Saturday in August 2006.
It looks like it is quite popular to hire a fancy limousine or a horse carriage for this event.
Real Soviet truck!
by matcrazy1
I found this automobile, on my picture, right in the downtown/centre of Kaunas at Town Hall Square (Rotuses aikste). It worked as garbage truck/dustcart in the evening.
Well, it was not so easy to find original post-Soviet trucks in Lithuania. This one on my picture was called ZIL. The name derived from Russian name "Zavod Imeni Likhocheva" (Likhachov Factory) that was an automobile factory, which manufactured armored cars for most Soviet leaders, as well as trucks, buses and tanks.
I remember them from Poland but there are not more used for many years as they consumed unbelievable amount of gas/petrol and simply they were not modern (produced since 50').
