Make a quick visit to what's...

Make a quick visit to what's left of the old town (see below), try one of the local restaurants - there are several good ones - and sample some fish. Then head outside the city to visit the coast, which is the biggest attraction. Sad to say - my fondest memory is of leaving Klaipeda via ferry to the beaches at Nida!

Tips
by aterola
I ussually leave 7-10 percent from the bill. Even in daytime when having lunch. If I have a lunch for 15 litas, I will leave 2 litas. If I eat for 45 litas, I will leave 4 or 5 litas... But tips are not must. If I don't like the service of waitress (I never mix waitress and kitchen work), I don't give any tips.
Look to the city and sea at once

People often forget to visit peer (that actauly we have two). one is in Smiltyne (walk a bit further than dolphinarium. On the bckside of dolphinarium. When you will think that there is no way then go forther and you will find it). Another and easier posibility is to take bus No. 6 and go to melnrage and there climb on northern peer which is actualy shorter but there you can get better view. For free!!!
one more thing - if you are ther in winter time - especialy in december then you can see very nice storm over peer. Unfortunately it is forbiden to walk on it during storms but nobody protects yourself from beein washed away exept you. So it is very nice, wet and extreme experience.
French atmosphere
by aterola about "Anikes teatras"
This restaurant is temporary closed....
In the center of Klaipeda downtown, in the Theater squere, you will find restaurant "Anikes teatras". Locals call this restaurant "German restaurant", because 90 percent of visitors there are Germans (Husband of owner is also German ;-)) When you go there, forget fast eating, it will take time to get food, be ready to wait. But if you have time, you can enjoy atmosphere of the squere, sitting in the terase of restaurant. The next conected building is Chineese restaurant and it belongs to the same owner. Behind the corner there is restaurant "Kurshiai" with Lithuanian food. It is also in the same ladies ownership. What I like there - is nice location, nice interior. The owner is crasy of textiles and she baught a lot of interior textiles from France. In summer it is very nice just to sit outside the building and to have a beer watching people, who pass the restaurant on the way to the ferry (to get to beach). I like interior and location.
