Hi! Can anybody here help me to find a small apartment or a room to rent for three to four months in Klaipeda? I need it from June to September 2006 (maybe longer). I am writing a book, and I would like to pick up some Lithuanian culture and atmosphere. My budget is not so big, I can just afford up to 200 USD/month for rent.

Hi, you can be sure, that you can get apartment for rent for this money in Klaipeda, even in summer season it's a bit more crowded because of the beach. I know few people who rent apartments in Klaipeda. I will contact you when I have info. I think you did a good choise to come to Klaipeda ;-)
yap, no problems with finding an apartment for 200usd, no wories, when you come to lithuania just go to tourist info center and they will (you should ask) help you with getting agencies number which rents rooms or flats. no wories, it is not difficult, mase sure that you sign an agreement if it is with agency, it is to make sure that they will not kick you out after a month.good luck, good choice to come here, visit surounding places too, its beautiufle in here, i am from klaipeda myself, if you need any other info contact at andrizali@lcc.lt

Besides being quite an interesting city itself, influenced by german architecture, it's also a great starting point for traveling the city is situated by the Baltic sea and Curonian Lagoon (Kurshiu Nerija) with its' georgeous views, lithuanian 'dessert' - huge sand dunes streaching along the coast, nature and the Baltic Sea coastal resorts and towns.
The sculpture park is the big park that is situated in the East of the city, near of bus and train stations. The park was placed here in 1820, near of the old cemetery. In XX century old graves were removed to other place and here nowadays only park area (although in the corner of the park you can see old crosses). Some modern statues that are placed in the park you can see in my travelogue.
I admired the colorful stained glass I saw in many churches. It was explained to me that the stained windows often told a story.
Because many people during the middle ages were illiterate, the church had to use pictures to tell their story.
Nothing of precise.. Just give your legs a freedom to go where they want :) I loved going around little streets while searching for the exit to the sea - discovered more of the city than walking by map!
They have a thing called HBH, ask anybody about it and they will tell you how to get there. It's some time driving from Klaipeda. It's a big restaurant, everything there is made of plaine wood and has some kind of medieval appeal. There is also a playground for kids (and adults play there also) and the whole place is awesome. They have national dishes there and be sure to try zeppelini - meat wrapped in potatoes, I can't explain it much, but it's one of the tastiest things I ever had! I wish I knew how to cook it...
