  • I was terribly disappointed in this hotel, especially with it being a so-called “4-star hotel”. The hotel is not located near anything of interest with a moderate view of the water – mostly a shipping yard and some fishing boats on the water leading out to the ocean (which you can only see from far away if looking out the hotel window). The website indicates that parking is available, but does NOT indicate that it is PAID parking. The rooms are decent, but they advertise the air conditioning is available in each room – they really meant that the system blows air into the room. There is not an actual unit that makes the air cold unless you open a window. Needless to say we were very warm during the day and for most of the evening. If you are in the mood for a quiet stay, this is absolutely not the place to choose. You can hear anything and everything to include the ships blowing their horns, the most “intimate” of sounds next door, doors slamming on various floors in the hotel building, cars passing the hotel on the main road, and the people chatting in the streets (which is strange being that we were on the 17th floor). There is also a night club and a strip club in the hotel which invites people to drink and be quite loud and obnoxious.

The room that we stayed in was an average size (double) and is first appealing to the eye as its retro style design is quite unique, however, the carpeting was stained, it smelled like smoke, the Ethernet connection didn’t work, and the coat closet/wardrobe was a bit tiny. Because the hotel is somewhat close to the Baltic Sea, once nightfall sets in, loads of fog consumes the entire area, so nothing can be seen at night from the window. If you happen to have a “sea view” like we did, you can only see it during the day. If it is raining and foggy, you will end up paying for a “sea view” with no view at all.

The customer service was anything but good. We requested assistance with the air conditioning and were told that everything worked just fine. We were denied another room – not because they were booked – but because they simply just didn’t want to do it and did not think it was necessary. We asked for assistance with the poor Internet connection in the room and the reception clerk suggested that we just come down to the lobby on the first floor, in another building, and conduct work online there, like it was no big deal. This was terribly inconvenient especially since we needed internet access to conduct business during our stay.

The hotel advertises that they have "seaside view" rooms available. This hotel is not seaside nor can you see the sea unless you have some pretty good binoculars. The hotel is very tall so that you can the ocean from afar, but the hotel is not within walking distance from any ocean unless you want to tour the fishing boats/barges that dock in the canal closest to the hotel.
I would never recommend visiting Klaipeda. It did not impress me and the people did not seem as friendly as they did while we were in other Lithuanian cities. I guess I am just not a city girl.

  • Comparison: more expensive than average
  • Directions: GPS took us to the hotel, but with difficulty due to canals and construction. It is one of the tallest buildings in the area and can be seen from a distance. The website provides information on how to get there, but don't depend on the staff for any help.
