Travel Tips for Palanga

Relaxing and Smelling the fresh Salt Baltic Air.

by Grazina

I love to watch people, Im a people person..
This is surely the place to be. I got to talk to a nice Polish man as well as a Lithuania fisherman...AWESOME PEOPLE OF THE LAND. The waiting and been patient for the sun to set in the west straight into the Baltic Sea...

This is on the pier where Grazina and Irma spent time gathering their thoughts as well, with the shore of Palanga in the background.

Swimming pool and bicycles

by vysnaite

There's an open air pool with cascades and trampolines called "Linas" , you'll find it easily. Great paths for bicycles through the pine tree forests (in which you can see squirrels!) . You can also play mini-golf, beach volleyball, tennis, bowling. Bicycles are on rent (5-6 Lt / hour).

the Pier

by vysnaite

Before the sunset crowds of people move to the main bridge (Pier) to watch the sun go down, it's a must when you're there. Now the bridge is fully reconstructed and you can go far to the sea. in day time you can watch volleyball matches from there or just the beach and the sea, at night after the sun goes down it's very nicely illuminated and is really a romantic place.
Sometimes when the late evening is with a fog, ok, what to hide here - when it's night - it's really beautiful. when you go further you don't see the shore because of the fog, seems you're in the middle of the sea.In few words: place for dates, sunset and one of the attractions.

Palanga

by Maeve_81

Altough Palanga is one of Lithuania's oldest settlements, it only became a city in 1952.
The emblem was designed in 1970 and is based on the historical amber trade in the city.

The emblem showes a chain of amber under a crown, referring to the legend of the amber palace of Princess Jurate.
She fell in love with a local fisherman, which angered Perkunas, god of heaven and earth. He thus destroyed the amber palace and all what was left of it were pieces of amber, which could be found on the shore.
