Travel Tips for Palanga

Walking along the beach

by yumyum

There is an endless beach to walk along. I first came to Palanga on a day trip from Klaipeda in the beginning of June 2001. This time I had exactly the same weather but it was peak season. It seems to be a lottery as to when to come, but generally the peak season starts in mid June and lasts till end August. Walking along the beach is actually more interesting when the weather changes constantly. It's amazing to watch the sky. Since I'm not an early riser I cannot tell you about finding amber on the beach.

Bikes and wide parks

by Raimix

I am really like biking, so I enjoyed it much. It is a big park in Planga's bothanical garden with palace of Tiskeviciai. It is the best way to start biking. You need only bike which you can rent in every place in Palanga.

Church of Saint Marie

by ginte

Small but nice for to take a look while walking at the center of Palanga. In 1897 - 1906 a catholic church in style neo gothic was build by project of Swedish architect K. Strandman. This 76 m. high building still in these days highest building in Palanga. Building of church came to 90 000 gold rubles, Count Tiskevicius made a donation of 30 000 of them. This is third Palanga church. Earlier it was situated in place of hotel Meguva. The acoustics of the church are perfect.

...Palanga...

by ginte

Palanga is the most famous destination in summer here in Lithuania. Many people go there for a few days, for a few weeks or for a longer time. It looks like half of the Lithuania is in Palanga during summer;-) Actually it's not my favourite destination, as it's too crowded then. But anyway it's always nice to come back there again and to see all the places I've seen before.
