Hi,
Well, both Klaipeda and Palanga have exellent beaches and entertainment facilities; but the biggest difference between them is that Klaipeda is one of the largest Lithuanian cities, and Palanga is a small resort town. So it depends on your preferences. I think Palanga is a lovely place, but, obviously, Klaipeda offers more fun, more places to visit and a very eventful cultural life including jazz festival (June), international folklore festival and the Sea Festival (July), so you won't get bored during the month stay:)

Travel Tips for Palanga

Language

by Raimix

Where are four tips of lithuanian language: auksaiciu, zemaiciu, dzuku and suvalku.

The most popular is aukstaiciu (region of Vilnius), but zemaiciu is in Palanga region. It is one of the most archaic language in the world. Quite interesting to hear how people talk, sometimes I can't understand what they are talking about though I am Lithuanian :)))

A little temple of St Maria

by Raimix

Mini temple of St Maria, hewed in one rock, near a mount, where Lithuanian pagans offered prayers for gods of the Sun, the Moon, the Thunderer and so on from VII century.

In the present time there a temple of Birutes was built.

You can see a natural surroundings of forests, parks and sea from there.

Swans in Botanic Park

by vysnaite

Botanical park is a very relaxed, with beautiful sceneries and fullfiled with romance. You can observe many weddings there. They are coming to take the pictures, as the scenary for this is really wonderful.

There are also pools with swans and ducks, people often feed them (with white bread), so they are not afraid of people. You can even see families of swans. Attention when the mother is with litte swans, if you come too close and the male swan is around - he's quite gelous and express his anger in an obvious way with anger. Swans live in pairs, families. they are faitful till the end of their lifes unless one partner dies. There are a lot of duck too, kids love them!
