Convenient Hotel Near the Cathedral
This clean, comfortable hotel is located very close to the town center and Cathedral Square. Hotel Tilto, which claims on its website to be "Irish Owned," is indeed located quite close to the Irish Embassy. As far as I could tell, the entire staff was Lithuanian, though even the maids spoke fluent English. I booked a single room online for about EUR 45 per night. The room itself was quite small, but had a double bed, a TV, and private facilities shoehorned into it. Free Wi-Fi is included, so business travelers who don't mind working on the bed and having very little storage space could find it useful. It's also fun to surf the web and Skype home if it happens to be a rainy day (which I got quite a few of when I visited). I also liked that there were not one, but two, microbreweries within about a 5-minute walk of the hotel. :) The website claims a "Full Irish Breakfast," which might be a bit of a stretch, but there was an impressive selection of hot and cold items, served both in the breakfast room and the modest "Guinness Bar" in the hotel's basement.
