A great place to stay in Uzupis

    by

Paupio Namai (also known as Uzupio Viesbutis, at least on some old signs) is a very good place to stay in Vilnius. It's situated in a quiet side street in Uzupis, approximately 15 minutes by foot away from the old town. The staff is very friendly and also speaks English. The rooms are clean and spacious. Showers and bathrooms are shared with other guests.
A bed in a "dorm" (i.e. a 3-person-room) is 45 Litas (ca. 9 Euro). Breakfast is not included, but may be ordered. The hostel and its rooms are accessible by a coded keycard so there is no curfew.

Unique Quality: Paupio Namai's location is cool: just next to Uzupis, the artists' quarter of Vilnius. Furthermore, the old town is quite close, too, and the Hill of Three Crosses is within easy reach.

Directions: Uzupis - find the quarter's main street Uzupio and you'll see signs leading to Uzupio Viesbutis - that's the same place

    In the artistic quarter

    by

This place is a sort of a cross between a hostel, cheap hotel and student digs, and none the worse for that.

It is in a large building in the artists quarter of Uzupio (a self - proclaimed artistic republic) in a quiet street near the river. It is only about a fifteen minute walk into the Old Town. there are dorm and private rooms, although I don't believe any are en-suite. There is a communal cooking area, which is kept spotlessly clean. Outside there are some tables and chairs ona pleasant verandah.

The ladies who run the place are very friendly.

Unique Quality: There is nothing particularly outstanding, it is just a good, clean, inexpensive place to stay.

    Directions: In the Uzupio quarter.

    Uzupio Hotel

Not exactly in Old Town as described on their web page. It's quite a hike. My room was in the basement and included a private bathroom. Unfortunately the shower floor and the bathroom floor were the same thing. After a shower, you couldn't go back into the bathroom without walking on the wet floor. I would not stay here again.
