Sleep by the Gates of Dawn
Free coffee/tea, free internet, 35LT/night dorm bed, and a chance to meet international travellers--this is just some of the benefits of the Old Town Hostel, not to mention that the Gates of Dawn (one of the entrances to Vilnius's gorgeous Old Town) are a 100m walk away. They offer single beds to budget travellers, plus more private accomodations (for more money too). And fabulous staff who speak fabulous English.
Unique Quality: It's a hostel, so it's simple, but clean. The great thing is its location, and the novelty of sleeping in a courtyard.

very nice in january there were really very few tourists , do not be afraid when you are in front of the entrance , it is very clean inside

A decent place to stay
We enjoyed our stay at the reasonably-priced Vilnius Backpackers hostel. We had a large, very nice private room for only about $20 per person per night. The staff were friendly and helpful. The location (near the old Jewish ghetto) is also convenient to most sites.
Unique Quality: Be prepared-- when you arrive, you'll be asked to remove your shoes and leave them in the lobby. No shoes can be worn within the hostel (although I cheated and wore flip flops in the bathroom).

Best in Vilnius
A great relaxed atmosphere with a good amount of backpackers passing through all year round sharing stories and tips. Its great location near the bus and train station makes it an ideal place is you are arriving late or departing early morning and don’t fancy the prospect of wandering around the city late at nice looking like a tourist and become the next crime statistic!
No curfew here and free Internet connection downstairs in the kitchen room dining area.
Unique Quality: Very clean and well maintain. Staff are very helpful with excellent local knowledge to assist with bars, places to eat. Train and bus times. Goog size beds and powerful hot showers.hmmmm..

Very cool hostel in Vilnius
I like this place. It is rather small but cosy. You have to take of your shoes, and there is only about 30 beds or so amybe less. So book ahead. There is a kitchen downstairs, free internet, the oldtown is two minutes walk, the train/busstation as well.
Unique Quality: I always enjoyed my stays here.

Deep in the centre, but not so good...
We slept here our first night in Vilnius, but we then decided to stay there just 1 night since we didn't like this place at all.
The only pro of this place is that it's really close to both the Stations and the Old Town.
Otherwise it's quite dirty, the showers and toilets are almost in the kitchen, with no walls to divide, no ladies and men restrooms, it's all together, and very dirty too.
If that is not enough the guy at the reception was quite disagreeable and with no help at all for us. I really cannot suggest this place.
Unique Quality: It's an official youth hostel, but I really don't know how this is possible, since it's one of the worst hostel I've been in my life, and I've seen quite a lot in these last years!
The only good thing was the free internet connection, but it was always busy.

The place to stay in Vilnius
Every time I go to Vilnius - about once a year - I stay at the Old Town hostel. Why? This hostel is a very special one. It has a soul, and an unbeatable atmosphere. Also the people who stay here are fantastic, love to share travel stories and are keen to meet other travellers. I have been staying here also when I've travelled by myself and I never had to feel lonely! I can't explain it better, you'll have to see for yourself :)
Unique Quality: There's a common room where it's nice to sit, maybe have a beer and chat with other travellers. Many times I had such a wonderful time just at the common room of the hostel that I hardly went out to see the city!
The hostel is located just a couple of minutes' walk from the Gates of Dawn (where the Old Town begins). It's also very close to the railway and bus station. Absolutely fantastic location.
