The country side of Luxembourg
Hello,
There are already several pages on Luxembourg on VT. Most of them deal with the city of Luxembourg and do not say anything about the country. Except catnapper’s page, which provides a good summary of history and shows also some pictures of some of the many castles.
I, a German living in Luxembourg for some time, would like to show still another side of this beautiful country, accessible also for travellers.
Everywhere in the country, south, west, east and north, many rambling (walking) routes are identified and several guides exist which cover these routes.
I am talking about the guide which has been publishes by the Luxembourg Rail Company “Chemins de Fer Luxembourgeois (CFL). The principle is simple: you take the train (and they run at least every hour) to a certain station; from there a route is identified to another train station, from which you may return. No car needed.
The distance is anywhere between 4 and 32 KM.
A little map is shown at these stations, so that it is not necessary to buy the whole guide (or ask your friends in Luxembourg (or me)
I will give you an example of a walk from CLERVAUX to TROISVIERGES in the North of the country (14 KM)
