Fares for trains from Zurich to Luxembourg

by marcelmambo

Would like to travel by train from Zurich to Luxembourg and back, how long, how much

RE: Fares for trains from Zurich to Luxembourg

by altamiro

>how long,

For schedules, the Swiss Railways (www.sbb.ch) or German Railway (www.bahn.de) are the most user-friendly.

>how much

Hard to say as you will cross at least two borders - railway pricing structures are not always on speaking terms with each other, at least when looking up online.

The best idea would be just to ask for the tickets at the Luxembourg Ville train station. The ticket agent software can bridge the gaps unlike the online thing.

Hello, I'd also like to travel from Zurich to Luxembourg. Any idea how much will it cost?

Travel Tips for Luxembourg

Summer in the City

by Skipka

At the Place d'Armes you always have a chance to smile at something. One day there are funny people walking on those long holes (can't say it in English) and on the other day there are funny bands playing like they make a competition who is better while one band seems to be Leningrad Cowboys and the other one serious Jazz band or Charlie Chaplin will make an animal from a special baloon for your kids. However, there is a great music in the evenings and a lot of funny things around. The best were three men wearing shorts and hats like tourists who always behave like strange tourists and followed old ladies in a queue just making fun for people who were watching :)

Public parks of Luxembourg

by HORSCHECK

Luxembourg's city centre is more or less completely surounded by a green belt consisting of the green Petrusse valley on the southern side and various public parks on the other sides.

Among the popular parks are Parc Ed. Klein, Parc de Ville and Parc des Trois Glands. They are home to some fountains, statues and flower arrangements and therefore invite for a relaxing break from busy sightseeing.

Local brews

by acemj

Bofferding, a modern brewery located about 10 miles south of Luxembourg City, makes a light Pils style beer (pictured here) that is the nation's best selling beer. All of Bofferding's beers are unpasteurized unless you buy their been in a can and the Pils was decent and refreshing.

Mousel is another brewery that is actually located right in the city and can be toured if you do a little planning (in terms of tour times, etc).

See the following website for more information on beers in Luxembourg:

23rd of June, national holiday

by ATLC

The 23rd of June is a national holiday. Originally to celebrate the birthday of Grand Duchess Charlotte who was born on 23rd of January. Her birthday was postponed 6 months to have better weather! We did the same in The Netherlands where Queen Beatrix (born in January) celebrates on her mother's birthday which is April 30th.
Anyway, on this day the Luxembourgers assemble in front of the Ducal Palace to greet the Grand Duke and his family, enjoy fireworks and whatever more. You can read more about it at the link below.

Trip to Vianden

by HORSCHECK

One day we went on a little trip by car to Vianden, which is situated about 50 km north of Luxembourg-City.

Vianden is among the touristic highlights of Luxembourg. It is dominated by its hilltop castle which was built between the 11th and 14th century.

Other well worth seeing sights include the Church of St Nicholas (13th century), the town hall (15th century) and the medieval ramparts with their fortified towers.
