Churches of Luxembourg
by HORSCHECK
Many churches can be found in and around Luxembourg's city centre. I have listed some of them under "Things to do". Other churches well worth seeing include the following ones:
The twin towered Saint Alphonse Church is located in the city centre at Rue des Capucins 32. The yellow church is of Catholic denomination.
The Saint Jean Baptiste Church belongs to the former Neumünster Abbey complex. It got its first mention in the early 14th century, whereas its present shape dates from the late 17th century. It is situated in the Grund district.
Just north west of the city centre and opposite to the Norte Dame cemterey a lovely Catholic chapel can be found. Its name is Chapelle du Glacis.
Euro Coins
by MikeAtSea
Luxembourg is part of the Euro Zone, the common currency for Europe. Although all banknotes in the Euro Zone are the same, coins are minted by the individual countries. Hence Luxembourg offers their own coins with the picture of the Grand Duc. Have a look when you get your change, since it may be a collection of coins from a number of European countries including the slightly rarer coins of Luxembourg.
Lézébuergesch

It is not totally true that Luxembourgish isn't a written language, and that french is the most used language. Only the strangers who work in luxembourg (as the French, the Portugise...) speak luxembourgish, and force the luxembourgishspeakers into french. But every one who is born in luxembourg speaks luxembourgish, so that even children of different nationalities who play together speak in luxembourgish. The language has an official grammar, but most people don't learn it and write the language as they like, because it is to difficult and doesn't pay off.
But this doesn't mean that it is not often written. When we write emails or sms, wee allways write them in Lézebuergesch, but we forget the difficult ponctuation... or write some words as they sound. It's also not true that we lend words from french and german because we don't have them, we only don't know them anymore, or they where to difficult. Our language isn't just a mixturem, but involved alongside the other european languages, and is an official language of his own. It's no dutch, because we "Lézéboier" don't understand it, neither do they... Nore do the french or the germans (only some from the boarder if we speak slowly...)
Thank you :)

A great place to relax ...
by Bigjones
Walferdange is not a very well-known place, it's a little village close to Luxembourg-city (15 min. by train) where there is nothing to see except the inhabitants and a few cows :-)
But there is one great thing that you can do there : enjoy the "Pidal Club". This is a big complex where you can go swimming, do some fitness, eat and most of all, relax in one of the many saunas, hammams and jacuzzis. My favorite place there was the bio sauna with fragrances and changing lights. Hmmm ! I also liked the traditionnal Finnish sauna and the swimming-pool outside. It was funny to run around naked outside while it was freezing (it was in january) ;-)
It's a great plan if you spend a few days in Luxembourg during winter. I know nothing more relaxing than that. And the price is quite reasonnable (about 16 €/day)
