University Residence: Student Accommodation in the Town of Lija

The University Residence provides accommodation mainly for students, lecturers and parents of students, however, depending on availability, rooms may also be rented out to tourists and short-stay visitors.

I have never stayed at the University Residence myself, but a few of my student friends have stayed here. It's very popular with young students as it's lively and lots of fun, however, the older person would probably find it too noisy.

There is a wide choice of accommodation and prices, depending on the period of the year. The website provides an up-to-date price list. The Residence has one and two-bedrooms accommodation, apartments and sharing accommodation. It even has a two-bedroomed villa in its gardens and a 200 year old farmhouse which has been converted into one-bedroomed apartments.

Facilities include a mini-market, laundrette, bar and restaurant, a running track, basketball and tennis courts, and much more. The University Residence is close to the parish church of Lija. Lija is popular for its fireworks held during the village festa on 6th August (great time to visit!) For students attending the University of Malta, the Residence provides a free scheduled bus service.

The Corinthia Palace Hotel: One of Malta's Five-Star Hotels

I have never actually stayed in the Corinthia Palace Hotel but spent several years using its gym, indoor pool and salon which were excellent. The Hotel is centralised, 4 km away from Mdina, 6 km from the capital city of Valletta, and 7 km from the lively and pretty town of St Julians. Also close by is the Ta' Qali craftsvillage and just opposite the road, there are the San Anton Gardens and the Presidential Palace.

Corinthia Palance Hotel: TBA

If you have come to Malta for just a few days and need complete relaxation, the Corinthia Palace is for you.
Although it is in a very quiet part of the Island ,it is also faily central which enables you to visit other parts of the island without difficulty and the airport is just 7 Km away.
The hotel is not cheap but it often has special offers on its web page which can bring the price down to $150 per night including breakfast and a host of hotel activities.

Nice relaxing pool area. It is right alongside the Governors gardens at San Anton which makes for a very pleasent stroll amoungst a wide range of plants and trees
