Qawra Hotel: Suncrest Hotel
The Seashells Resort at Suncrest Hotel Malta is located directly on the seafront overlooking the picturesque bay of Qawra.
This Hotel was lovely, room was huge, beds clean and comfy, bathroom fine.
Food was fine too, plenty of choice and fresh and tasty.
The outdoor salt water swimming pool was a beautifully shaped and was an enjoyable experience.
The hotel is in a good location with lots of little bars nearby.
Maid service was every day and excellent, all staff i found to be helpful and polite.
The little gift shop is fantastic also, has everything you need or may have left at home.
The hotel is good value for money.

White Dolphin Appartments: Fantastic appartments!!
For our week in Malta, we stayed in the three star White Dolphin Apartments, located on the Qawra sea front. This lovely little set of Apartments is on two sides of the salt-water swimming pool area where there are also sun beds. The decoration around the swimming pool is low-key but nevertheless lovely. The restaurant and bar is also fantastic, with excellent service. Both are open to the public, and so please see my Restaurant tip for Il-Garra Trattoria for information on the restaurant. It is located 100m away from the sea, and 500 meters from the bars and restaurants of Qawra.
The apartments are all self catered and contain an oven, grill, hob with four rings, kettle, toaster and fridge. There is no bath but a very large shower. Our balcony overlooked the pool and restaurant area, with views across Salina Bay. Extra facilities include Air Conditioning, Safety Deposit Box and Television, all of which must be paid for. The Air Conditioning and Safety Deposit Box are a must, costing €5 and €1.50 per day, plus a deposit of €20 and €10 (which is returned at the end of the holiday) respectively. We did not want the Television, which I think was around €2.50 a day, and we certainly did not miss it. Even if we had paid for it, I don’t think we would have had time to watch it.
The hotel also has internet access and a games room. All rooms have disabled access.
The staff were all extremely friendly, especially the bar and restaurant manager William (who, it must be said, we had the most contact with, and after the first few days had learned our drinks order!).
The restaurant had special events on some nights, including Maltese night on Thursday, Karaoke on Friday and BBQ on Monday.
I would definitely recommend a stay here for anyone visiting Malta as the service we received can only be described as first class, and we would certainly stay here again on a future visit!
This truly is a fantastic hotel, with impeccable service and in a great position. The food and drink is not over-priced as with many hotels, in fact we found the restaurant to be one of the cheaper options in the resort.

White Dolphin Apartments: Lovely place to stay
The White Dolphin Apartments are on the main Rd. As you walk through the gates the pool bar area looks quite lovely and is tastefully decorated to look like a Mediterranean villa set aside an ancient wall, at the far end is the Restaurant and Bar (Il Garra) area and up the steps the reception
Air con is in €5 per day with a refundable deposit of €20 for the remote
The safety deposit box is in the wardrobe and costs €1.50 there is a refundable deposit of €10
There is a tv and digi box in the rooms which can be used for €2.50 per day again with a refundable deposit of €20 for the remote we hired the Air con as although the rooms have ceiling fans it is very hot and as we plan on spending our time walking around in the day and relaxing in the evenings we wanted to be able to chill out in the room and of course the safety deposit box for our money, passports etc.
The rooms are lovely and spacious with excellent cooking facilities, unlike many apartments abroad that usually just have a 2 ring hob to do your cooking on these have 4 rings and an oven, (there are 4 of most things plates etc) but extra large bowls for serving.
Wardrobe space is slightly limited, the wardrobe itself is big enough and has 6 hangers so it helps if you have your own as well but there are no drawers (and only 1 shelf that had blankets on) to put your other clothes on so we had to move the blankets to the top of the wardrobe and put our clothes on that shelf. There is a large dressing table that has a drawer so you can put some things in there and one bedside cabinet.
The lovely Balcony’s look out over the Pool/courtyard area, with a lovely sea view to the right. We were pleasantly surprised to find clothes drying facilities on the Balcony
We liked it so much that we are going back in 2011
Fantastic Restaurant (See separate tip), Great rooms with excellent cooking facilities. very friendly Staff.

San Antonio Mercurio Hotel: San Antonio Mercurio Hotel
This hotel is hopeless. The service, food and autmosphere - really not a nice hotel to relax in. Even though it looks like some buidling from the Greek islands as it is painted all in white. However the way food is served is quite unprofessional as they give you two times when meals are served and it is first come first serve basis that is if you choose for example 7.00 time the last one and there is no place you will have to squeeze in.
The amenities are not lacking as it has a great huge outdoor pool which seemed very clean and the ambiance is very nice. The indoor pool is not at all quiet - kids shouting and everyone running and jumping into the pool really terribel experience ! The spa was dirty and the massage parlour noisy ! Really not a nice place to be and when I complained they did nothing about it and ignored my email and the manager did nothing about the fact that we did not enjoy our stay due to too many people in hotel who were rude and noisy.

The food was nothing special and the lifts hardly worked they kept stopping on each floor .... well this hotel is nice from the outside but needs to be restored and they need to get some real maintenance done !!!
the outisde pool is quite nice and lavish. The inside one is small and there kids shouting at their top of their heads !!! and the sauna and the jacuzzi areas were filled with people and kids shouting ! not a quiet area indead !!

Palm Court Hotel Qwara: cheap but great
well... ive read most people hate the hotel and ive heard from locals that its rubbish, but im a typical tourist and i have to say i enjoyed my stay there. the room was great... nice view of the coastline hotel and beach from the roof. there is a large pool on the ground floor. a large pool for great swimmers and a small pool for todlers. on the roof theres a big.... erm.... padling pool! haha! nice and quiet tho. theres a lounge upstairs too with bingo nights and that. to be honest its more of a senior citizen hotel so its allways quiet! i think there were 4 floors... the downstairs has a tiny games room with a few arcade games nothing special. theres a internet section... a downstairs loung which is almost always full. the bar is great but always packed.. theres a laundret and a indoor 'heated' pool. but this seemed to be popular with children in the summer season.
it is so cheap to stay here... 180 for a room for 3 weeks we paid last year on a HB basis. the food was great just like home from home!

Bella Vista Hotel - Qawra
The Bella Vista Hotel is located on Qawra Coast Road, near the salt pans and very close to the centre of Bugibba.
The rooms are finished according a 4 Star hotel (Maltese standards, meaning 3 star European standards), are clean and include twin beds, bathroom, small cooler (at a charge), hairdryer, safe (at a charge), satellite TV, DD telephone, ceiling fan and hot/cold air-conditioning (which is absolutely necessary during summer months).
The hotel is also offering sport facilities (table tennis and gym), sauna and swimming pool.
The breakfast and dinner are based on international cusine open bar buffet, good, although in a week there aren't many changes in the menu.

Grand Hotel Mercure San Antonio: 4 star hotel in Bugibba/Qawra
Excellent hotel in in the heart of Bugibba/Qawra.The food was excellent, service top class, pools clean and rooms immaculate. If there was anything at all to pick on i would say that for childrens entertainment it was not as good as some hotels in the area unless you were French, but this was understandable as the hotel is french owned! But even then there is still plenty for the children to do and the french animation team were trying their best to involve the English children.
Food, good views of bay, good service, biggest lagoon pool in Malta.

New Dolmen ****: Nice place
Downtown of Bugibba, near by the bus-station.
The hotel is built on the site of and incorporating an authentic neolithic temple, has heart stopping magnificient views of St Paul's Bay and St Paul's Islands, and is within easy walking distance of extensive shopping and colourful entertainment.Malta International Airport is 18 km away - 25 minutes by taxi. Public transport disserves directly St. Paul's Bay, Sliema (10 km) and Valletta (16km) .
The New Dolmen Hotel derives its name from the 'Dolmen' which is the archaeological remains situated in the hotel's garden, and around which the hotel is built.

Hotel Santana: A Very Nice Hotel
This hotel is in the Qawra district, which blends seamlessly with Bugibba. The hotspots of Bugibba centre are about 10 to 15 minutes walk and the bus station is less than 5. The hotel is very nice - clean, comfortable, well run.
Our room was a "superior" room, for which we payed very little more than the standard room. I'd recommend anyone to get this room upgrade. The rooms are huge by comparison to the "normal" rooms and have a sitting area and a dining area, as well as a balcony and a small kitchen (cleverly hidden in a cupboard!).
Breakfast was a full hot & cold buffet, which was nice and very filling, though the dining area lacks character. There is a rooftop pool with a cocktail bar and a 24 hour internet cafe. I didn't use the Internet once, but I used the cafe. Their coffe & cake specials were the best deal in town and the cakes were simply wonderful!
We booked as part of a package and the package price for this hotel was very reasonable indeed. The quoted room rates are very reasonable too.
I'll show more of the hotel in a travelogue - it's worth it I think.
