I am one, a Maltese that is.
People are great as are most in the rest of the world.
If you do not have pre-conceptions on a Britain overseas it will be wonderfull.
Pity you are not into history.
That is something that will be an eye-opener.
Be assured you will enjoy it.

Visit Valletta and the Malta Experience first. This is an audiovisive in many languages. It is a good way to know the history of Malta from the beginning.
Spend some hours in Mdina. Its a walled town.
Go to Marsaklokk to see the luzzus; the sailors boats painted brightly.
In Malta there are also several prehistoric sites if you are interested in them.

I see you're into scuba. Diving in Malta is Med diving at its best. A far cry from the Great Barrier reef or Carribbean, but it's still good. Send me an email if you would like tips on where and with whom to go ;)

Travel Tips for Bugibba
Bank / Bureau de Change
by pieter_jan_v
The HSBC bank offers the best rates when you have to change your money. Also there are ATM machines and automatic Change machines available beyond the business hours.
Don't wait till the last minute; sometimes the machines are out of money or need service. Power outage is also not uncommon on the island.
2009 Update: As Malta intoduced the Euro as the National currency; the need to change money for most West European visitors is decreased.
St Paul's Bay
by Diana75
St Paul's Bay is situated in the north east of Malta, 16 km from the capital city Valletta and is one of the ordest seaside resorts.
Its name refers to the shipwreck of Saint Paul on the island situated in the bay.
Among the places can be visited here are Ghajn Razul, the Apostle's fount, at which the saint is reputed to have quenched his thirst following his shipwreck, the church at tal-Huggiega, the church of the bonfire, marking the site where the apostle shook off the viper into the flames and the church at San Pawl Milqghi, the place where St.Paul was made welcome by Publius, the Roman Governor.
Amazingly good Restaurant
by Elly01 about Venus Restuarant
The food is amazing here very esquisite. They also give you finger food before and the ambience is very warm, chic and cuddley even though the place is small so make sure you book beforehand. Hmm the chicken adn bacon ravioli were delicious but even he steak was amazing !!! it hard to pin point as everything was good !
THE MALTASIAN RESTAURANT
by pieter_jan_v about Ta'Cassia - MOVED
Ta'Cassia is a great outdoor local Maltesian restaurant. It is housed in a former farmhouse and the dining area is located in between the trees of the the old yard.
The whole place has a romantic setting and you can extend your evening at the nightclub section.
UPDATE:
I got a message from the restaurant owner -Manuel Attard- the ta'Cassia Farmhouse Restaurant has been moved to a new location in Salina. Anything Maltesian, from rabbit to seafood.
