Comino hotel is on a very quiet island apart from the weekends when the locals come over in force. If you are after a quiet relaxing time with a book by the pool as they is very little sand then this is the place for you.
We were picked up from the airport in a minibus and were taken to meet the small Comino Hotel boat to get to the island. The bus took appprox 45 mins and the boat took a further 30min. Although we were waiting at the dock for 2 hours but we didn't mind as there was a small take away stand to get something to eat and drink. The free (for Comino guests) boat goes between Malta and Gozo non stop throught the day. A timetable is available on their website.
The only downside with the hotel is the lack of evening entertainment (there is some but not very good). Also at the hotel you spend a lot of the time waiting for a drink. It is much quieter at the bungalows although you can only get food & drink from 10-5. It’s a pity they don't use the facilities at the bungalows as I would prefer to spend the evening there.
They were plenty of people who I spoke to that had been before and kept coming back. The staff are really friendly and work very hard making the place enjoyable and very relaxing. I personally wouldn’t go back as there are too many places in the world to go to but I can see why people do return.
I feel that it is a little run down now and could do with a refurb but don't let that put you off as we throughly enjoyed our stay. On the whole I would say that the hotel was good and would recommend it especially the bungalows.
Go to the Blue Lagoon early in the morning preferably before 9am.
Get the speed boat trip round the island and in the caves it is great fun. Theme: HotelAddress: www.cominohotel.com
