Comino: Comino via Malta Direct
The hotel we have been to on two occasions and the staff are excellent. The hotel was supposed to be refurbished last year with new carpets but this has not been done, It could do with a spot of painting to and as for the bungalows well read on.
My main concern was the hotel has two types of accomodation Rooms or Bungalows. According when you book with Malta Direct you may think you are booking a suite ( a room you would think in the Hotel) but you are in for a surprise. You most likely will end up in a Bungalow. For instance we booked a 'end seaview suite' via the internet knowing the hotels accomodation and what was there. What we got was a Bungalow which in our opinion left something to be desired. As it was sqaushed between two others and the very smelly to boot.
There has been some confusion between what Malta Direct think is a suite and what the hotel thinks is a suite. The Hotel indeed does have two sea view suites but you must make sure that you know what you are booking.
The island is very quiet for most of the week until the local Maltese take over at the weekend but this happens to most of the Hotels on Malta. The views are quite nice and there is no problem swimming in the sea or the Pools. By the way the Bungalows which are about ten minutes walk away has its own small pool. Transport is provided to take you between the sites. Breakfast is the only meal you can get at the bungalows at present the others are at the Hotel. The hotel is classed by the Maltese Tourist Board as 4 star but do not expect that european standard here it is more of a 3 star.

The Comino Bungalows
The bungalows are located in Santa Marija Bay, ten minute walk from Comino Hotel to which are connected also through the free shuttle Mini Bus.
Some of the 46 bungalows offer also sea view and there is also a large sea water swimming pool.

Comino Hotel
Comino Hotel, famous of course as it is the only hotel on the island, is located in San Niklaw Bay and offers two small sandy beaches exclusively to hotel guests, as well as a large seawater swimming pool.
With its 95 fully equipped rooms, the hotel is the perfect place for tourists seeking the tranquility and isolation of Comino Island.
And don't be surprised if one morning you'll see at the table near you a famous international star.
I've heard they love this place.

Comino hotel and bungalows: Comino Hotel
Comino hotel is on a very quiet island apart from the weekends when the locals come over in force. If you are after a quiet relaxing time with a book by the pool as they is very little sand then this is the place for you.
We were picked up from the airport in a minibus and were taken to meet the small Comino Hotel boat to get to the island. The bus took appprox 45 mins and the boat took a further 30min. Although we were waiting at the dock for 2 hours but we didn't mind as there was a small take away stand to get something to eat and drink. The free (for Comino guests) boat goes between Malta and Gozo non stop throught the day. A timetable is available on their website.
The only downside with the hotel is the lack of evening entertainment (there is some but not very good). Also at the hotel you spend a lot of the time waiting for a drink. It is much quieter at the bungalows although you can only get food & drink from 10-5. It’s a pity they don't use the facilities at the bungalows as I would prefer to spend the evening there.
They were plenty of people who I spoke to that had been before and kept coming back. The staff are really friendly and work very hard making the place enjoyable and very relaxing. I personally wouldn’t go back as there are too many places in the world to go to but I can see why people do return.
I feel that it is a little run down now and could do with a refurb but don't let that put you off as we throughly enjoyed our stay. On the whole I would say that the hotel was good and would recommend it especially the bungalows.
Go to the Blue Lagoon early in the morning preferably before 9am.
Get the speed boat trip round the island and in the caves it is great fun.
