As disappointed as we were at discovering that the L'Imgarr Hotel was no longer open for business, we were equally delighted to discover that The Grand is just as good! The room and the breakfast didn't quite match up to the standards of the L'Imgarr, and nor did the pool area, but these were pretty minor points and the hotel was certainly no disappointment. The room was large, very well furnished and decorated and the bathroom was immaculate. The balcony was fairly large, large enough for two sun beds, and had lovely harbour views. The desk staff were extremely helpful and informative and nothing seemed to be too much trouble for them. The location is great; an easy walk to Mgarr with its harbour, bars and cafes or to Ghajnsielem with its magnificent church and sprinkling of cafes, and an easy drive to Rabat, Nadur and beyond. In fact Gozo being so small means that even staying here, rather than more centrally, means that you can still be anywhere on the island in about a half hour. Some quite major, but amazingly unobtrusive, building work had almost been completed which would see a large ballroom/wedding venue and (I think) indoor pool be added to the hotel. This should now be open. Theme: HotelPrice: US$80-120 » Currency ConverterComparison: about averagePhone: 356 2156 3840Directions: Go up the hill from the harbour. Where the road bears sharp left to head to Rabat (Victoria) turn right (it's almost a "straight ahead") and go up the hill that heads to the right. It's near the top on the left hand side, before the next sharp left.
