Hotel Serena Beach Hotel, GoZo, malta allegibily has been defrauding visitors to the hotel, scamming, through credit cards. many holiday companies are withdrawing this hotel from their resort list because of Jo Vella's activities for the past years. There is plenty at online. this scamming git, did you know that he was in court last year for this and there is alligations that he got let off because he was friends with the judge, and could have also been giving back handers to get away with it. If you want to know of any other attempts made on your cards, you can get this from your bank, your normal customer service may not be educated, but the tech support are and the right dept. can email you or post you a full list of attempt made on that card weather approved or declined. this might even open your eyes to other attempts he has made, like us, 10,000. that didnt go thru. we were smart, we ended up not staying there and went back to the airport at flew home.
jo vella was saying our cards were not valid, but infact we went to the cash machine that was nearby and showed him a receipt to prove that 1. the card is vaid and works 2. that funds are available. but becuase he was trying to take out thousands for a security deposit, well thats what he called it, obviously it got declined. at no point was he going to show us the declined reciepts of the amounts, nor let us have them. he said because the cards were not valid, that we can not stay at the hotel unless we paid another 1625euros in cash. so we didnt.
A wonderful place to stay and highly recommended.
The Santa Margarita farmhouse is on the outskirts of the small village of Sannat in southern Gozo. Only a five minute drive away from the capital Victoria and the popular resort of Xlendi.
The Farmhouse has four bedrooms and is a place of real character. It has the flagstone floors, ceiling beams and stone walls of the traditional Gozitan farmhouse but boasts a good sized swimming pool, courtyard with BBQ and kitchen and small lounge.
There is also a drying area for clothes and the bedrooms are all ensuite.
The farmhouse is peaceful and tranquil and a wonderful place to stay as long as you aren't put off by the smell of the countryside which occasionally wafts over the high stone walls.
The owner of this acomodation, Mr George Grech, is extremely friendly and helpful and can take care of most things you require, from transfers to the accomodation from Malta airport to car hire for you while you're on the island.
The Farmhouse has a lot of character and is simple not flashy which suited us completely. The pool is a great size, set in a spacious courtyard which can be lit at night for al fresco dining and star gazing.
Set in the peaceful village of Sannat, it's a wonderful place to get away from the bustling tourist areas of Xlendi and Marsalforn and would suit couples looking for privacy and romance as well as catering for the needs of families.
We really enjoyed our stay at this newly converted authentic farmhouse located in the village of Xaghra in Gozo.
It has a private pool and rooftop views. Really enjoyed the evening BBQ's near the pool with the family!!
We booked the trip through a travel agent in the Netherlands, this became complicated as there were 4 people booking both flights and accommodation there and I was to book my own flight out to Gozo. This caused increased confusion at the travel agent. So the farm house was booked as an entirity not by person numbers. When arriving at the farmhouse there were only four beds made, presuming my brother was my mothers husband! which caused a great laughing matter for the rest of our stay. Because the farm house came with a car, which had to be delievered the following day, which it was not as we were apparently not there! However after all this confusion of the first two days everything was sorted. We received the car linnen was offered and everyone was very helpful in particular the local handy man who alerted the office that our car had not yet arrived on Monday morning. Allthough smelling of damp, and some lurking cob webs, this being because we were the first of the season. It was certainly worth it.
The farm house is by far the best way to stay in Gozo, as mentioned before, there are so many options the simple farm house with no swimming pool to the luxury that has both swimming pool and hot tub, of which there is not too much price difference. The views from this particular farm house were fantastic views down to marsalforn amazing.
Razzett Ghasri was said to have been a small monastery, which is renovated and turned into 5 spacious holiday apartments. All have their private access, terrace and access to the common pool. The entire complex has the charm of a labyrinth and is entirely built of the local yellow sandstone blocks, as almost every building on Gozo.
It is located just outside the tiny little town of Ghasri, overlooking the agricultural valley with the Mediterranean sea just visible in the distance.
Very clean modern, well equipped appartments, stunning location. The website gives you a virtual tour of the apartments.
Extremely helpful owner who will assist with transfers, car hire if required. A tie in with the local dive school (PADI, LM140). A restaurant in the complex serving a good variety of well cooked food. Prices start at LM45 per week.
Horizon Apartments in Marsalforn is a family run block of flats ,we found the owner and his son were most helpful and went out of their way to make our stay as enjoyable as possible and the view is for free and what a view
Horizon Apartments are self catering and a resturant is below the apartments, the complex is just a few metres from the water the flats are 2 bedroom and well equipped
We stayed at the Atlantis Hotel for one night in April 2005. We booked an internal double on B&B basis and it came only up to Lm9.50 pppn. The rooms are quite large and clean with ensuite bathroom. One thing which irritates us was the strong smell of chlorine near our room. There was a continental breakfast in the morning which was good but you had to pay extra for English breakfast.
The hotel had an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a beauty salon.
We had the opportunity to rent whats called a farmhouse. It actually wasn't a farmhouse but a very nice town house. I liked staying in a house like this instead of the usual Hotel. This way you have your peace and can do whatever you like. The only disadvantage is that you have to make your own breakfast.... (and other meals).
The "Farmhouses" can be booked through various Tour Operators.
We had a quite newly built house. Its built in the typical Gozo-Style with the warm coloured limestone. The house has 4 Bedrooms with 2 Beds and a private bathroom each. One bathroom even had a jacuzzi! All very spacious. The kitchen is fully equipped with plates pans etc. its got a fridge, stove, oven, microwave etc.
The bed wash and towels are provided and the house gets cleaned for you after your stay. Outside the house in the garden there is a pool and some sunbeads and a barbecue.
When we went to Gozo (Marsalforn), we first stayed at the Atlantis hotel because we arrived late at night and could not find anything else quickly. It was expensive if nice with a swimming-pool and all. But the next days we still looked around for a cheaper, smaller place.
We found one, a little family-run guest house in a side street, called "The Lantern". When we enquired about the price we could hardly believe it. Only about 13$ per person with breakfast! Of course we took it.
It was a nice stay there. Yes, the rooms are not the absolute nicest, and there are no things like swimming-pools etc. But then again, the sea is only a few minutes away! The people at "The Lantern" were very friendly. Downstairs there is a bar and a little restaurant, where you have your breakfast. You can also eat lunch there or have a drink in the evening. We saw only locals there which was nice.
We were on Gozo at the beginning of April. One would imagine it'd be full of tourists but it really wasn't! In fact, hardly any accomodations were open yet, and many restaurants still closed. The sea was very very cold still, but I dared swim in it anyway. It was probably about 15 ?C.
Gozo is so worth it, much nicer than the big Malta island!
I've stayed in one of these lovely apartments which are situated a few metres away from the Xlendi Bay. They are very clean with a well equipped kitchen and beautiful bathroom. The ground-floor apartment has a lovely patio which is ideal for enjoying the sun or sitting in the cool summer night breeze.
Renting a villa in Gozo is by far the best way to have a holiday here. Most of them have pools and barbecues. They are usually old farmhouses which have been refurbished and they consequently are very roomy with several bedrooms, large kitchens and outside space
The views are usually pretty superb
We stayed in a flat, past Marsalforn, at a place called Qbajjar. It was big, clean, with all amenities and not expensive. The photo was taken from the balcony.
