It was truly exquisite. A former 17th century Palazzo, it has been beautifully preserved and transformed into luxury accommodation. A feeling of tranquility is all around the hotel. It is set within the 'silent city' of Mdina so it will obviously be a quiet place to stay!
Although located in central Malta, it is not in a very convenient place if you wish to get out and about sightseeing (unless you hire a car or are prepared to take buses or taxis everywhere), but perfect for a romantic short break.
The restaurant and menu looked wonderful.
Lovely views across the Maltese countryside - you could even see the coastline a few miles away.

A fantastic hotel - we stayed 16 nights in August and couldn't fault it in any way! Lived up to every one of it's 5 stars! It's fairly new and the contemporary design of the interior looks fabulous - sparkling glass, light wood and mirrors everywhere.
Try and book one of the 'club/executive' rooms (and specify a garden view) - they occupy the top 3 floors and are very spacious. Also this would entitle you to complimentary use of the 'club lounge' - which includes hot and cold buffet breakfast (huge choice!) and afternoon cakes and pastries, also all day drinks - all kinds - even champagne! It's all 'help yourself' or if you prefer, the staff will bring you whatever you request! It's a great place to relax at any time with a selection of daily newspapers & a great choice of books. State of the art plasma screen televisions and computers / printers with unlimited Internet use are provided free of charge in the lounge too!
Outdoors there is a large rooftop terrace with lovely views down to the bay.
Situated about 10km from the airport, with a hotel taxi service to or from, fixed at 18 Euros.
Within the hotel are 6 luxurious restaurants and a huge outdoor pool area. The indoor pool looked nice for cooler weather times too.
As expected from a top class hotel, the list of amenities provided is endless, but I can personally recommend the fitness centre and beauty salon in particular.

The hotel is handy for bus stops where buses can be caught to Valletta every 5 mins during the day. The Sliema Ferry is a few minutes away and is an attractive way to visit Valletta. Sliema Front is 10 mins away where there is a good variety of restaurants
There are no beaches locally but there is good rock bathing. Malta is a lovely island with its history, geology and views and thanks to cheap frequent buses, easy to explore.
The hotel is 2 stars but what it lacks in luxury it makes up for by its friendliness and convenient location.

We stayed at The Juliani in a junior suite for 2 nights early December 2006. Everything throughout our stay was perfect. There are 44 deluxe rooms, 11 of which are suites. All the suites have a bay view and jacuzzi bathrooms.
The friendly & helpful service at the reception & at breakfast was first class. (They even knocked on our door on the second evening offering some Maltese cake!) The location of the hotel is excellent & the frequent local bus service stops right outside. There are many very good restaurants & bars close by.
I just wish we could have stayed longer! We will not hesitate to book this hotel again for our next visit! Take a look at their website (link below) to see what Juliani offers!
We didn't use the hotel's 2 main restaurants ("Zest" & "Meze") though they both looked & sounded very inviting on the menu boards. We did use the "Cafe Juliani" in the lobby for breakfast which was included in our package; it was excellent in every way.
The pool on the rooftop looked very welcoming with it's blue cushioned seats in a Middle Eastern type theme & there were quite a few lovely modern sun loungers around the poolside. Unusually for December it was sunny enough to lie out around the pool but sadly we just didn't have the time.
The ultra modern decor in our room was lovely - an abundance of cushions, curtains & bedding in white, turquoise & browns with light wood/glass furniture. An equally modern, very clean bathroom was plenty big enough with a good shower over a jacuzzi bath! The sea view from our balcony was easily the best on Malta, beautiful both by day & night! Not a hotel for those with walking problems as it is at the top of a hill. Although not steep it is a bit of a hike (especially in the 40 degree heat)
We had a few problems but were all seen to with ease and very proffesionally. There is a fantastic bar with barmen full of character. The rooms are of very good standard and are large!
There is a small shop and a swimming pool.

Although we did not stay here we did use the swimming pool and had a look around the hotel and into one of the rooms. The rooms are large but very basic. Certainly in need of renovation I feel. The entrance hall is lovely and also has a touch of old world class to it. The swimming pool was not large but to be honest, as there were no kids there it was a pleasant place to spend the afternoon. If you want good location, excellent views and good-sized rooms then this could be the place for you. Make sure you request a room in the newer part otherwise the rooms are on the small side. We had a room on the 5th floor with a sea view and balcony.
Basic accommodation with no hairdryer or fancy toiletries. You have to pay to watch the TV, there is no bar but there are plenty to choose from nearby. Breakfast was basic and I never bothered after day 1, preffering to lie in while Chris had my share!
