This hotel is very new and its decor is very trendy. It only has 44 rooms so one should expect a very personalised service from the cordial staff. The cafe situated on the ground floor , Juliani cafe, (read my tip) is a hidden gem .
The luxurious Hotel Juliani boasts a prime site, overlooking the picturesque bay of St Julian's. Being in such a prime location, it is ideal since one can stay here without needing a vehicle. Just walking out of the hotel, one can find a variety of entertainment spots, and a bus stop is opposite the hotel Theme: HotelComparison: more expensive than averageAddress: 12 St.George's Road, St.Julians, MaltaPhone: (00356) 2138 8000Directions: its situated in St Julians square. this area is referred to as Spinola by the locals. View from hotel by wadekorzan Why didn't I put a picture of the hotel in this page? First of all, because the exterior of the hotel is not very nice looking, and second, the interior is not much better. Let's just say that it was a decent hotel, but if I were you--I would shop around. The 1 thing that this hotel has that no other hotel has is the incredible view of the sea--it is the tallest building on Malta. I loved my huge balcony, as from there I could watch the waves crashing down on the coast and the moonlight flickering on the sea. But other than the view, this hotel is just "OK", for a 4 star hotel. The other excellent thing about the hotel is the location--5 minutes walking to Sliema ferries where you can catch the ferry to Valetta, and just outside there is the bus stop so you can go to St. Julian's or Valetta without any problem. What I did not like about the hotel was the fact that in the section of the hotel I stayed in, there were only two elevators, and one was always broken. It took forever to go up and down from the room. The hotel is geared for the package tourist and not the individual traveller. the breakfast room was packed, there was not enough wait staff, there were dirty tables everywhere and no where to sit. I was asked to clear my incidentals by 9 PM the night before check out as that is the policy of the hotel, and if you want something from the minibar after that good luck convincing the hotel that you are actuially going to pay. I always try to find a hotel that is going to be a very memorable part of my experience--a room with character, something unforgettable. I will never forget that beautiful moon shining on the sea as I watched from my balcony--but the rest of the hotel i prefer to forget. I almost forgot to mention--they DO have an excellent fitness center called the Wellness Spa, and internet is available in the hotel, too.
I paid Lm 34 for a sea-view single room, it would have been Lm 28 for a non-sea view single...but the sea view is THE unique quality about this hotel--thank goodness I paid for it. Remember this is just MY experience and yours could be different, but at least you have heard one experience about this hotel when you are shopping around...Good luck!!! The picture is looking down on a restaurant--an Italian one next to TGI Friday's. by grift71 Dean Hamlet. St. Julians. Not very luxurious, but very cheap, especially outside the busy periods. Malta is best visited outside these busy months anyway, so you might as well save some money there. The rooms are big, especially the living area. We were on the top floor (3rd if I remember correctly) and as there was no elevator that meant dragging suitcases up there on arrival. But I'm not complaining. For the cost it was perfect. Only downside was that the bathroom was actually inside one of the bedrooms. That means that if you are with more than two people, people will have to cross one of the bedrooms to go to the bathroom... Oh well, minor glitch.
The swimming pool was nice and the jacuzzi wasn't bad either. I do suppose that in the busy season they might be very crowded. June or September/October might be the best times to visit. Theme: OtherComparison: least expensiveOther Contact: http://www.deanhamlet.com.mt/dea

by grift71 St. George's Park. St. Julians. This is a big complex. And be warned, it's in the middle of the Noisy Zone. That means that you'll be boomboxed out of your bed on Saturdays, that you'll be Technoed out of your bed on Fridays and that you'll be singing along to John Travolta on 70's nights. It's noisy, you can't hide, can't make it go away. So be prepared. Rooms are spacious. Not as spacious as Dean Hamlet, but you've got enough room to leave your clothes scattered around and not be bothered about it. The pool is big too, but as I said, it's a big complex. They have a supermarket (well... minimarket) in the basement, they rent cars in the basement (you actually get to see the car you're renting, so that might save you from the inevitable Maruti!) and they have bars and stuff in the basement. It's a happening place, that basement.
I'd say the balcony is nice. And did I say it can be noisy? Theme: OtherComparison: least expensiveDirections: Just follow the noise on Saturday night and you're there.Other Contact: http://www.destinationmalta.com/

wide range of accomodation available...location is most important. Westin, Hilton, and Corinthia San Gorg are the best hotels (5*), highly recommended is the 3* Panorama Hotel in Mellieha- high up with fabulous views and beach down the hill, but not for night life. Just make sure building works not going on because they will ruin your holiday, they have no respect. Camping is on a strictly DIY basis, B&B's a hit-and-miss affair. For studying English there is the family-stay option. Theme: HotelDirections: For nightlife: S.Julians, Sliema, and Bugibba For beaches : Mellieha, Sliema, Gozo. For quiet : Gozo (Ta Cenc hotel is excellent, also Mgarr hotel), Mdina, Selmun Palace For character : Xara Palace ho

About 50 pounds sterling a night. May have changed now though.
The price here is good, we paid 250 pounds for a week for the 2 of us. Clean rooms, everything works, space to cook if you feel like it. There are two pools here, one small and one quite large. Theme: OtherComparison: about averageAddress: On the middle of St Julians off a side street.

by AnitaJRT We staid at the Golden Tulip Vivaldi in Paceville. While the accommodations were very night, and staff helpful -- it was in a noisy section of Paceville. I can tell you also that during our 12 night visit, we blew out the circuit breaker in the room (total darkness for a while till the located it), blew up the electronic door lock (took about an hour to repair) and had no hot water a couple of mornings. Maybe these were just gremlins following us around, but you gotta wonder. Breakfasts were good and they always accommodated our early morning departures with coffee and pastries in the lobby. They always replenished our shampoo and bubble baths (something our American hotels don't always do). For a complete 12 day package, including about 6 hours we paid $550 per person in February. I feel that is cheap.
Some rooms overlook the ocean, varying sizes, varying prices -- very clean! PLUS when you are getting oriented to your location, you are very near the Hilton with that eyesore of a tower (really detracts from the charm of the skyline) -- but it helped us to locate the hotel the first couple of days.
