Park Lane Aparthotel: Recommended but needs a spruce up

by Flying.Scotsman

The Park Lane was a comfortable place to stay with friendly efficient staff. The breakfasts were excellent and the evening meals very good. Our room and the reception area were slightly worn and didn't fully reflect its 4 star status. We were shown another room which had been refurbished and was lovely but it was a room rather than the suite we wanted. If you decide to stay here do ask for a refurbished room if this is important to you. All things considered, the pros well outweigh the cons and we enjoyed our week's stay very much.

The view from the rooftop pool area is spectacular. The pool itself is very small but more than adequate for sunning and a cool dip.

Hotel Plevna.: A nice hotel in Sliema.

by Maurizioago

I spent five days at this hotel full board.

I was given a small, but nice room with bathroom en suite and two small balconies with some chairs.

Each meal were buffet style and there was lot of food to choose from. Unfortunately at times, when some food was over the personnel didn't replenish the buffet. So that the guests who arrived quite late for lunch or dinner weren't able to have all the dishes included on the menu. I don't know why I didn't complained about this thing with the hotel's boss.

There is a bus stop some two minutes from the hotel. It was convenient to take a bus to Valletta. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get to this bus stop every time I returned from Valletta or somewhere else. I had to get off the bus on the Strand (a long promenade) and then walk for some15 minutes uphill to the hotel.

The food was good.

The hotel isn't far from the beach.

Free of charge internet.

The George Boutique Hotel: Great little central hotel

by thisisretro

This hotel is bang in the middle of it all. Being new we expected some issues but everything went smoothly and the staff are great at helping out. Our room was very spacious and clean and everything worked as it should. The public areas had fast and free WiFI and some cool looking touch screen PC’s. We would recommend this hotel to anyone that wants to be located in a central part of the island.

Solana Hotel: Great value

by boltonian

At the top of the hill in Mellieha is the Solana. We paid just over 200 UK pounds for a double suite. (7 nights)

Very clean.

2 pools

Spa

The food here is pretty steep in price but very tasty

Try to avoid the rooms on the front. Great little balcony but very noisy traffic 24 hours a day

We found it cheaper to book through www.hotelsclick.com than directly through the hotel website

Antonio's: Accommodation for Long Holiday

by Xemx

Well I haven't actually stayed in this accommodation as I normally stay at my own house, unless I've hopped over to the other island of Gozo, but I recently learnt about this is brand new 'penthouse', which is available to anyone wanting to spend a few months in Malta in one of the loveliest areas of the island. It's not too far from the water and a nice promenade for a long and pleasant walk in summer or in winter. Check out the link below which leads to a beautiful website containing more information about the accommodation.

Westin Dragonara: Great Location

by rcsparty

We had a great time at the Westin. Our room was more then spacious for the four of us, and our view from the balcony was fantastic. The people at the hotel were very helpful in terms of planning our days activities. They also had kids activities at the hotel, although our kids were not too interested in letting me and wife explore the island on our own. The hotel was walking distance from some very good restaurants and nightlife.

Overall, we were very happy with both the hotel and the service.

Osborne Hotel: Osborne Hotel

by pure1942

The Osborne gets a mixed review from me. The location is brilliant, not far from Triq il-Repubblika, and the rooms are comfortable and clean with ensuite bathroom, coffee making facilities and plasma TV. The staff are friendly, attentive and welcoming and the rooftop terrace has great views over the city.
Now the bad side...the room we were given had no windows!!!! Didn’t mind too much at first so didn’t ask to change but after a while it got annoying, especially waking up in the morning...didn’t know what time of the day or night it might be and couldn’t even tell what the weather was like. Spoilt what would have been a fine room.
The other less than satisfactory thing was the breakfast which really wasn’t great. I’m not a great breakfast eater most of the time, but after paying for it as part of the room I wasn’t too impressed with the offerings. The bar too wasn’t great and poorly staffed...plus I love my coffee, so when paying €2 for a coffee in a hotel bar I expect more than luke warm instant coffee in a thimble sized cup!
The roof top terrace could be so much better. Apart from the ridiculously small ‘pool’ the terrace does have promise if they put out a few chairs and tables. The sun loungers aren’t the most comfortable things to sit on.
Having said all that, the hotel was very reasonably priced for a double room and was ideally located in Valletta and close to the bus terminal. We don’t spend too long in our accommodation anyway so we were generally happy with the hotel. Could be worse...could be better.
Ah yeah...have to add in my usual gripe over internet access. Why is it that in budget accommodation and hostels, internet access is nearly always free but in supposedly upmarket hotel accommodation you are nearly always charged for this service?...doesn’t make sense to me!

Horizon Apartments in Gozo: bad bad bad

by pepe86

i'd like to comment about the horizon apartments seeing that there's no feedback section on their website. I have just come from Gozo after spending a weekend there. While i cannot comment about the calmness which surrounds the apartment I can surely complain about the way we've been treated when we called to let the owners know that we didnt have any hot water. after being told that we were the ones to blame, no one came to check or at least called to see if we fixed the problem, leaving us for three days without hot water.just hot steam and plaster falling of the gyzer. Not to mention that on our departure day the owners came to chuck us out with the speed of light taking off the sheets on the bed when we still had our belongings. I do feel very disappointed even so cause this didnt happen with just our apartment but others who were staying in the different apartments complained about other things, such as the oven which didnt work, lights going out and all sorts of things which are unacceptable when we pay so much and in advance.as it is right now not a penny would be worth spending on such a rude and careless attitude.
